unstar this property answer text <p>HM Revenue &amp; Customs (HMRC) currently estimate that abolishing the national insurance exemption for people of pensionable age in 2014/15 would raise around £950m in NIC receipts.</p><p>This figure is based on employee and self employed national insurance contributions (Classes 1, 2 and 4).</p><p>The estimate is based on the latest available Survey of Personal Incomes (2011/12), which has been projected in line with Budget 2014 economic assumptions.</p><p> </p><p>The estimate also includes a behavioural adjustment to reflect changes in labour supply for this age group which are subject to some uncertainties.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>HM Revenue &amp; Customs<strong> (</strong>HMRC) has set up customs risk profiles to target goods originating in Crimea or Sevastopol in response to EU Council Regulation 692/2014. The profiles are targeting Crimean postcodes. The risk profiles are being monitored and will be adjusted as circumstances require.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>As with all sanctions introduced by the EU, they have direct effect in the UK and apply directly to UK persons and companies. The Government will take steps to ensure these measures are effectively implemented and enforced.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The majority of people pay the tax they owe but there is a minority who don't. As part of the government's long term economic plan, we are cracking down on tax avoidance.</p><p> </p><p>Legislation currently before Parliament on accelerated payments will enable HMRC to issue notices seeking upfront payment of disputed tax in certain existing and future avoidance cases.</p><p> </p><p>The legislation is not retrospective.It does not create any new tax liability; it simply alters where the tax sits whilst the liability is being disputed, and puts those who try to avoid tax on the same footing as the vast majority who pay their tax up front under PAYE.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The taxpayer can continue to dispute the case and will be paid with interest should they win.</p> more like this

This estimate was published by HM Revenue &amp; Customs (HMRC) in ‘A Disaggregation of HMRC Tax Receipts between England, Wales, Scotland &amp; Northern Ireland'. Estimates of offshore Corporation Tax receipts relating to Northern Ireland are available as produced by two methods: a geographic basis and a population based apportionment. The estimates for 2012-13 are nil and £137m respectively.</p> more like this
