answer text <p>On 13 January, the Chancellor of the Exchequer hosted a reception for the Holocaust Educational Trust event at Number 11, marking the start of the year that represents 70 years since the end of the Holocaust.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>To commemorate Britain’s role in the liberation of Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp, as well as the courage of Holocaust victims and survivors, the Chancellor and Communities Secretary Eric Pickles commissioned The Royal Mint to design a special issue medal.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>A small number of these were donated to Holocaust survivors living in the UK and to Holocaust Educational Trust supporters at the event, before The Royal Mint began selling to the wider public on 14 January.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>These medals were designed in consultation with Chief Rabbi, Ephraim Mirvis, and the Holocaust Educational Trust.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government is closely monitoring whether energy supply companies are passing on to their customers the benefits of plunging oil and gas prices as quickly as possible. I have written to the six largest energy companies to insist this happens, and will meet them shortly. Ofgem has referred the gas and electricity markets to the competition authorities to ensure those markets are working effectively. The Competition and Market Authority has been clear it will be looking at the relationship between wholesale costs and retail prices as part of its investigation.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Chair of the independent review of veterans in the criminal justice system, Stephen Phillips MP, formally met the Advisors to the review four times. A number of the advisors attended two stakeholder visits. They were also consulted on the text of the report.</p><p>Stephen Phillips QC MP submitted his completed review to the Secretary of State on the 5 of November 2014, and the members of the advisory committee did not meet subsequent to this.</p><p>The government published the review, the government response and two supporting analytical reports on the 21 December 2014.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Our officials in Bangkok are aware of Mr Craig Lindley’s hospitalisation in Thailand and are providing advice and support to Mr Lindley’s friend and brother who are also in Thailand. This includes advice on visa extensions, information about medical repatriation companies, and obtaining updates from the hospital to pass on to Mr Lindley’s parents in the UK. Our officials have also been in touch with your office and have provided advice on options available to the family for payment of the hospital bills. Our Embassy in Bangkok will continue to monitor the case closely and maintain contact with the hospital and with Mr Lindley’s friends and family.</p> more like this

Fewer young people have entered the criminal justice system and as a result fewer young people have ended up in custody. To deliver the best value for taxpayers we have reduced the number of youth custody places.</p><p> </p><p>The Youth Justice Board (YJB) is responsible for the placement of young people in custody. Young people are placed in establishments that can most effectively manage their individual needs. While every effort is made to place young people as close to home as possible, other factors are taken into account in placement decisions, such as age, suitability of regime, risk of self-harm and the risk of harm to other.</p><p> </p><p>The YJB holds data on the distance from home of young people accommodated in Secure Training Centres and Young Offender Institutions. “Home” is defined as a young person's address at the time of placement.
