The Programme Board brings together a group of front-line experts from across the health and care system to take action to improve the identification, diagnosis and management of sepsis in children, young people and adults across the National Health Service.</p><p>In September 2018, the Government launched a suspicion of sepsis dashboard. The NIHR welcomes funding applications for research into any aspect of human health. However, the NIHR has not conducted any research into links between head injuries sustained through sport and motor neurone disease.</p><p>It is not usual practice to ring-fence funds for particular topics or conditions. Applications are subject to peer review and judged in open competition, with awards being made on the basis of the importance of the topic to patients and health and care services, value for money and scientific quality.
