answer text <p>The Government is committed to planting 11 million trees this Parliament, as well as planting 1 million trees in our towns and cities. Woodland creation is a key element of our 25 Year Environment Plan.</p><p> </p><p>The Government provides national support to landowners to plant trees through Countryside Stewardship, the Woodland Carbon Fund, the High Speed 2 Woodland Fund and the Government’s investment in the Northern Forest. Further, in the Autumn Budget, the Government announced £10m for an Urban Trees Challenge Fund – which is now open for applications - and £50m to help plant new woodlands through the Woodland Carbon Guarantee.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>We supported the planting of 372,000 trees for the administrative areas of Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire from 2010-11 to 2018-19, and look forward to supporting landowners to plant more trees in the coming years.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The US remains the UK's primary defence and security ally and our forces are designed to operate seamlessly alongside the US either bilaterally, in a NATO or other coalition construct. The Department is committed to improving interoperability with the US and conducts a programme of regular exercises to maintain momentum. The UK and US have embedded personnel across each other's militaries in order to ensure the highest levels of interoperability exist.</p><p>US-UK cooperation on our aircraft carrier, the F35 Lightning and P-8 programmes will extend our ability to operate together seamlessly. We will look for further such opportunities to maximise the value of our mutual investments to ensure interoperability with the US on the capability, force structures and policies required to meet the challenge of great power competition.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The amount of funds expiring in employers’ digital apprenticeship service accounts in June 2019 was £26 million.</p><p> </p><p>As well as funding apprenticeships in levy-paying employers, levy contributions are also used to fund training for existing apprenticeship learners and new apprenticeships in non-levy paying employers. We do not anticipate that all employers who pay the levy will need or want to use all the funds in their accounts, however they are able to do this.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The central issue in relation to military exports to the Saudi-led coalition in the context of the conflict in Yemen is Criterion 2c of the Consolidated EU and National Arms Export Licensing Criteria (the Government will not grant an export licence if there is a <em>clear risk</em> that the item <em>might</em> be used in the commission of a serious violation of IHL).</p><p> </p><p>Criterion 2c is a prospective and predictive exercise as to whether there is a clear risk <em>in the future</em>. Although the Government has always considered the historic record in respect of IHL, past instances are only a part of the picture in relation to Criterion 2c.</p><p> </p><p>The Court of Appeal judgment concerns reaching findings on IHL in specific incidents in the past. The Government’s approach has recognised the inherent difficulty of doing so where we do not have access to complete information. We are now considering the implications of the judgment for decision-making.</p> more like this
