We welcome genuine students, and we have no plans to introduce a cap on intake for study. The Government also recognises the benefit that education exports bring to the UK and we want to maximise the opportunities for UK providers in this area. As such, we promote study in the UK through the ‘Britain is GREAT’ marketing campaign and also through the British Council, which promotes UK education in over 100 countries, connecting millions of people with the United Kingdom. In addition, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) completed an Equality Analysis report ahead of the introduction of the standard rate of Personal Independence Payments. The analysis recognised the benefits of an online system but accepted that such a system would be dependent on an electronic data interchange between the DVLA and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/03/2017 answer text <p>The law requires the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) to check that a customer is entitled to the standard rate of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) before a vehicle can be licensed at the reduced rate of vehicle excise duty.</p><p>The DVLA does not receive information from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) about those entitled to the standard rate of PIP so is currently unable to offer an online service to those customers. Customers who wish to apply for a reduced rate of vehicle excise duty because they are in receipt of the standard rate of PIP must therefore send their application to the DVLA. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/03/2017 answer text <p>Health assessments take into account the fact that most health conditions fluctuate and as such, will not focus on an individual’s ‘best day’, or take a ‘snapshot’ of their condition on the day of their assessment.</p><p>Health Professionals receive comprehensive training in disability analysis which includes a functional evaluation as to how medical conditions and the long-term medical treatment of those conditions affect an individual. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/03/2017 answer text <p>The assessment for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is designed to treat people as individuals, considering the impact of their impairment or health condition on their everyday life and how each claimant has personally adapted to living with a disability.</p><p>We recognise that information given by companions could be useful, particularly in cases where the claimant may lack insight into their condition, understate the challenges they face or have difficulty. We have made it very clear that when attending a face-to-face consultation, claimants can bring someone with them in order to support them or help them and in some cases we will also carry out consultations in claimants’ homes.</p><p>Since its inception, the system of assessing claimants’ eligibility for PIP has been continually reviewed and refined in order to improve its efficiency and effectiveness. We continue to work extensively with PIP assessment providers and disability representatives to make improvements to guidance, training and audit procedures in order to ensure a quality service is maintained.
