Our legal aid system is a fundamental pillar of access to justice; that is why
we have made sure that legal aid continues to be available for the most vulnerable
in our society and for the most serious cases. The Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment

for asylum cases, immigration detention, immigration applications and appeals in cases
of human trafficking and modern slavery, subject to a test of the applicant’s financial
means and the merits of their case.

This government is absolutely committed
