answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/03/2019 answer text <p>DIT is leading on Government’s shared intent to safeguard the UK’s position as a world-leading destination for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).</p><p> </p><p>The UK has many strengths that attract investors: an open, liberal economy, world-class talent and a business-friendly environment. The most recent data from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) ranked the UK as third globally for FDI in 2017—and the number one destination in Europe, ahead of Germany.</p><p> </p><p>DIT is supporting investment into local communities by targeting promotional support towards projects with the greatest potential to maximise national wealth and value for money. As part of this approach, DIT is working with local partners to systematically identify emerging clusters, sub-sectors, supply chain gaps or other ‘High Potential Opportunities’ where lack of market information is leading to structural under-investment. Staff who worked in high risk areas had to confirm their vaccination status to senior management. This winter, provisional flu vaccine uptake data for healthcare workers shows slightly higher uptake than last year and is the highest level since the programme began. President Masisi attended the Illegal Wildlife Trade Conference in October 2018 and I took this opportunity to meet with the Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, Unity Dow, and Environment Minister, Tshekedi Khama, to discuss Botswana's important role in the protection of endangered species. The UK and Botswana also have a regular dialogue on conservation and counter-poaching activity. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/03/2019 answer text <p>On 26 February, two Northern Ireland fishing vessels were detained in Dundalk Bay. The skippers of the boats appeared in court on 1 March. They have since been released without conviction and the boats returned.</p><p> </p><p>The Voisinage Arrangement between the UK and Ireland provides for reciprocal access to fish in the 0-6nm zone. However, the arrangement has been suspended by Ireland following a decision by the Irish Supreme Court in 2016. As a result, fishing by Northern Ireland vessels within Ireland’s 0-6nm zone is currently not permitted. The UK has continued to respect the arrangement but cannot allow this unequal treatment to continue indefinitely.</p><p> </p><p>The UK Government has made numerous representations to the Irish Government since 2016 to push for the reinstatement of the arrangement as soon as possible. Following the seizure of the two vessels, the Irish Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, committed on 1 March to changing the law to restore the status quo to what it was before 2016, and has indicated that he is confident the legislation can be passed quickly. In 2017 2,535,000 tonnes were produced, in an unusually good agricultural season. In 2018, this dropped to 1,937,000 tonnes. The current season has been negatively affected by economic crisis and poor rainfall.
