answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/01/2020 answer text <p>In the recent storms, part of the defence, known as a ‘geotube’ (a sand-filled sleeve of geotextile fabric) became exposed in front of the golf course. Minor works to reduce the risk of scour have now been completed. The work was funded from the Dawlish Warren Beach Management Scheme budget.</p><p>There is currently no requirement for major works. However, further works to adapt the site to become more sustainable to future storms will be needed in the future. The Environment Agency will continue to monitor the site closely and liaise with local stakeholders to respond and adapt to changes where possible.</p><p>Earlier this year the Government made £80 million available to Network Rail for enhancing the Dawlish coastal defences. However, Network Rail is currently preparing a Traction Decarbonisation Network Strategy (TDNS), which is due to report in 2020. This will indicate where routes might be electrified or where hydrogen or battery trains could be deployed. This includes ensuring schools and parents engage in effective dialogue. Protests outside schools can be disruptive to children’s education. We encourage parents to talk to their child’s school in a calm and constructive way if they have concerns.</p><p>The Department has worked with the National Association of Headteachers and the National Governance Association to produce guidance for primary schools on effective engagement with parents on relationships education. This can be found here: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/engaging-parents-with-relationships-education-policy" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/engaging-parents-with-relationships-education-policy</a>.</p><p>To help local authorities support schools that are managing concerns from parents, including where this has reached the level of disruption to schools, we have worked with the Local Government Association and Birmingham City Council to produce advice. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/11/2019 answer text <p>From September 2020, the Department is making Relationships Education compulsory for all primary pupils, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) compulsory for all secondary pupils and Health Education compulsory for all pupils in state-funded schools.</p><p>There is a strong emphasis within the new Ofsted inspection arrangements on schools ensuring that pupils access a broad and balanced curriculum, including the new requirements around the new compulsory subjects, and a new judgement on pupils’ personal development, which is particularly relevant to these areas.</p><p>Ofsted’s school inspection handbook contains a specific section on RSE which sets out the requirements on schools. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/10/2019 answer text <p>As announced on 30 September £100 million of seed funding has been made available to support 21 major projects covering 34 hospitals, to commence their development of schemes to be delivered in a second phase of major hospital rebuilds (HIP2), one of which is the Derriford Hospital scheme.</p><p>This £100 million of seed funding will be provided as capital and will mainly be for enabling project teams, specialist advisers and site surveys.</p><p>The funding will be drawn by providers in line with need up to 1% of the estimated capital value of each HIP2 scheme. Funding will be allocated following visits to the scheme by NHS England and NHS Improvement to discuss their proposals and how they can be helped to develop. Then Trusts will be required to provide a breakdown of what seed funding will be spent on and how that will accelerate the project development.</p><p>The budget has been received for 2020-21 and 2021-22 financial years, but funding could be available in the current financial year if there is an immediate and strong case.</p><p>Seed funding will not constitute approval of the scheme as a whole as that will be subject to further development and subject to the usual business case approvals process, including demonstrating affordability and value for money.</p> answering member constituency Charnwood answering member printed Edward Argar question first answered 30/10/2019 12:12:33 answering member 4362 label Biography information for Edward Argar
