answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/09/2018 answer text <p>As part of the reforms to probation in 2015 all offenders, including those sentenced to less than 12 months, now get targeted support from probation providers when they leave prison to help them reintegrate into society. This includes working with local partners to help them find accommodation, which is provided by the local authority.</p><p>On 27 July, the MOJ announced our intention to end contracts with Community Rehabilitation Companies in 2020.We will be consulting on introducing changes so that probation services do more to help offenders find accommodation and employment on release from custody. We are investing an additional £22m per annum during the current contract period to ensure that CRCs deliver an enhanced ‘Through the Gate’ service to offenders leaving prison. This will also include sustained support to find accommodation and employment on discharge.</p><p>As part of the Government’s Rough Sleeping strategy, MoJ and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), will be investing approximately £6m over two years in a pilot scheme to help ex-offenders secure suitable accommodation upon release. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/09/2018 answer text <p>All Service leavers are provided with information on sources of housing help in their leaving information packs which are issued before discharge. The Joint Services Housing Advice Office (JSHAO) provides a dedicated focal point within the Ministry of Defence (MOD) for housing ​information and advice for those about to return to civilian life. The JSHAO gives regular nationwide briefings advising Service personnel of their housing options.</p><p> </p><p>In 2012, the Government changed the law so that serving personnel suffering from a serious injury, illness or disability attributable to their service, and former Service personnel with urgent housing needs, are always given high priority for social housing. The Government has issued guidance strongly encouraging councils to prioritise all members of the Armed Forces and their families for social housing. This is statutory guidance to which councils must pay regard and is published at:</p><p> </p><p><a href="http://www.communities.gov.uk/publications/housing/allocationaccommodationguide" target="_blank">www.communities.gov.uk/publications/housing/allocationaccommodationguide</a></p><p> </p><p>The MOD is developing a new tri-Service policy to provide more comprehensive support to Service personnel and their families as they transition out of the Armed Forces to civilian life. This will include advice and support on housing matters. The MOD will also be covered by the new Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) led statutory requirement scheduled to come into effect this autumn to refer those Service personnel at risk of homelessness when they leave the Armed Forces to the relevant local authority. The MHCLG has also extended the period within which veterans are given priority for Government funded shared ownership schemes, from 12 to 24 months after service. Support is also available from Veterans UK who operate a Freephone helpline (0808 1914218), and the Veterans Welfare Service. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/09/2018 answer text <p>Whilst we have not made specific representations to the Israeli authorities about the release of the vessels, Al-Awda and Freedom, officials in London and at the British Embassy in Tel Aviv discussed the flotilla with the Israeli authorities. The Deputy Head of Mission raised the issue of personal belongings with the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Office of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories informed Embassy officials that supplies carried on the vessels were delivered into the Gaza Strip via the Erez crossing. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/09/2018 answer text <p>The role of the UK liaison officers is to facilitate good working co-operation between EU Member States, including Italy, France and Greece, on asylum and immigration matters with the UK. Liaison officers are not involved in identifying children under Section 67 of the Immigration Act 2016, as it is a matter for our partner states to refer children who meet the criteria and where it is in their best interests to transfer to the UK. Liaison officers are not involved in the identification of applicants with qualifying family members either as this is also a matter for the competent national authorities of Dublin states.</p><p>On 30 November, the Government published data on the numbers of children transferred to the UK from the Calais camp clearance under both the Dublin III Regulation and section 67 of the Immigration Act 2016. The data can be accessed here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/transfers-of-children-to-the-uk-from-the-calais-operation-november-2017</p><p>On 22 February 2018, the Home Office published data on the number of transfers into the UK from other Dublin states. The relevant statistics can be found at as_22_q, asylum volume 5 at the following link: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/immigration-statistics-october-to-december-2017-data-tables. 2018 Dublin data will be published in February 2019.</p><p>We remain fully committed to delivering our commitment to transfer the specified number of 480 children under section 67 of the Immigration Act 2016 and are working very closely with participating States, to deliver the scheme in line with their national laws. Over 220 children are already in the UK and transfers are ongoing. As part of the Department for International Development’s £75 million migration programme working along the Central Mediterranean route, up to £5 million will be allocated to humanitarian assistance and protection for migrants and refugees in Libya. Alongside this, we continue to help fund the European Union Trust Fund, which works in a number of countries, including Libya, where it focuses on improving conditions for migrants in detention centres. Alongside this the UK has also committed to increase efforts to tackle smuggling and trafficking by building the capacity of Libyan law enforcement agencies, and taking steps to hold those responsible to account. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/09/2018 answer text <p>There is no information held about successful prosecutions for offences connected with trafficking in persons in North Africa, the Middle East and Europe.</p><p>However, the UK shares relevant information on organised immigration crime (OIC) with partners in source, transit and destination countries for illegal migration. This takes place both on a bilateral basis and through the European Migrant Smuggling Centre within Europol.</p><p>Through the multi-agency Organised Immigration Crime Taskforce, the government is improving the intelligence picture around OIC, modern slavery and human trafficking, undermining the criminal business model and building the capacity of upstream law enforcement partners to tackle the threat.</p><p>The police transformation program includes an analytical team, the Joint Slavery and Trafficking Analysis Centre (JSTAC) which is building and developing the strategic intelligence picture by improving data collection and focused analysis of the information gathered.
