answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/12/2016 answer text <p>The additional £1.4 billion investment in the Affordable Homes Programme will deliver an estimated additional 40,000 affordable housing starts by 2020/21, increasing the overall capital budget to £7.1 billion up to 2021 to deliver an estimated 225,000 affordable homes.</p><p>The flexible programme will fund a mix of affordable housing including affordable homes for rent and low cost home ownership. The actual split of tenures will depend on bids received, based on the assessment of local needs and local housing markets. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/09/2016 answer text <p>The government recognises a key part of raising the standard of education for all children, regardless of background or gender, is to ensure they receive a good level of development in literacy and numeracy before they start school at age five.</p><p> </p><p>The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework sets the prime areas of learning which early years providers must follow. This includes a focus on communication and language. The Early Years Foundation stage is published on gov.uk and can be accessed through the following link: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/335504/EYFS_framework_from_1_September_2014__with_clarification_note.pdf" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/335504/EYFS_framework_from_1_September_2014__with_clarification_note.pdf</a></p><p> </p><p>The 2014-15 EYFS Profile results tell us that the proportion of children achieving a good level of development continues to increase – 66 % in 2015, compared to 60% in 2014 and 52% in 2013. The EYFS Profile results also show that more than 80% of children are reaching the expected communication and language skills by age five. A higher proportion of children eligible for free school meals are achieving a good level of development – 51% in 2015 compared to 45% in 2014. Although the gap between disadvantaged children and their peers is narrowing, we recognise there is still some way to go.</p><p> </p><p>The government is making a significant investment in the early years sector, working closely with the profession to help improve its status. As a result, numbers of qualified staff have risen, numbers of graduates in the workforce continues to rise, and a record number of providers are rated good or outstanding, with 86% of providers currently on the Early Years Register judged good or outstanding for overall effectiveness at 31 March 2016. This represents an eight percentage point increase on the position at 31 March 2014.</p><p> </p><p>The quality of the workforce continues to rise with 87% of staff in full day care settings now qualified to level 3 (equivalent level of study to A-level). answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/06/2016 answer text <p>Government is committed to increasing physical activity as set out in our sport strategy, ‘Sporting Future: A New Strategy for an Active Nation’ published late last year. That strategy removed the artificial barriers between sport and wider physical activity, broadening Sport England’s remit to include cycling, dancing and walking. The recently published Sport England strategy, ‘Towards an Active Nation’, sets out their plans to implement this new approach.</p><p> </p><p>I recognise that creating a more active society will require action by a range of bodies working together over a significant period of time. I therefore welcome the work of Legacy Park Ltd in Sheffield in bringing together partners across local government, the health sector, academia, elite and community sport and the private sector. The work of the National Centre for Sports and Exercise Medicine in Sheffield and wider work in Sheffield can contribute action on this issue both locally and nationally.</p><p> </p><p>This potential underpins the rationale for investment in the National Centre for Sports and Exercise Medicine (in Sheffield and the London and East Midlands hubs) and the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre on the Park. Savings of this magnitude can only be delivered by changing the Department’s overall business model so that it is simpler, cheaper and better for users of BIS services. This involves reducing the number of offices, our number of partner bodies, and our headcount as well as rationalising customer support, grant giving and digital service delivery.
