<p>The Department for Education provides a national framework for school choice through
the statutory School Admissions Code and related admissions law. It is for local authorities
and other admission authorities (including grammar schools) to set their admission
arrangements within the parameters of this framework.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The
School Admissions Code requires local authorities to publish a composite prospectus
for parents which contains the admission arrangements for each of the state funded
schools in their area. Parents can then express a preference for at least three schools
when applying for a school place as part of the normal admissions round.</p><p> </p><p>
