answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/03/2021 answer text <p>The National Probation Service (NPS) views maturity assessments as a critical component of an offender assessment within a Pre-Sentence Report (PSR) as articulated in Probation Instruction 04/2016: Determining PSR.</p><p>The NPS has produced maturity guidance to support PSR writers which highlights how to identify low maturity, particularly for young adults aged 18-25 years old. It also provides examples of how report writers can communicate with courts about maturity, offending and sentencing proposals.</p><p>Between July to September 2020, there were two cases of young adults aged 18 to 25 sentenced to life imprisonment who received a pre-sentence report in England and Wales.</p><p>It is not possible to give figures for the proportion of young adults aged 18 to 25 sentenced to life imprisonment who received a pre-sentence report, as this would involve a process of matching court record data with probation data and the cost of doing so would be disproportionate.</p><p>Due to the disclosure risk regarding the identification of certain attributes about a data subject that may not otherwise have been known, figures cannot be provided on the number of cases where an assessment for neuro-disabilities or maturity has been conducted.</p> answering member constituency Cheltenham answering member printed Alex Chalk question first answered 25/03/2021 17:42:56 answering member 4481 label Biography information for Alex Chalk

The legislative proposals will be brought forward when parliamentary time allows.</p><p>The legislation will include a transitional provision to enable retired magistrates who are younger than the new MRA to apply to return to the bench subject to business need. Friend, the Member for North Swindon, as Minister for Disabled People, Health and Work, and with Ministerial Disability Champions across Whitehall to ensure that our policies are joined up effectively. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/03/2021 answer text <p>Allocations of funding through the Community Discharge Grant are made on the basis of forecast future discharges of people for whom a Transforming Care Partnership has a commissioning responsibility.</p><p>In order to calculate the 2020-21 allocations for each Transforming Care Partnership in England under the Community Discharge Grant we have estimated the double running costs that each Transforming Care Partnership could face for the coming year. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/04/2021 answer text <p>We are not aware of any specific meetings that the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care has had with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) that focussed on its new inspection regime in relation to closed cultures.</p><p>The Minister of State for Care has regular meetings with the CQC including discussions on closed cultures, as well as on Transforming Care more widely. I met with the CQC on the 29 June 2020 which included discussions around closed cultures.</p><p>CQC have been making significant improvements in how they understand and identify closed culture services, prioritising these services for monitoring. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/03/2021 answer text <p>Live links were extended in the criminal courts under temporary provisions in the Coronavirus Act 2020 and have been used extensively during the pandemic. The feedback we have received from judges and other court users has helped inform the drafting of these replacement provisions in the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts (PCSC) Bill.</p><p> </p><p>The use of live links in criminal courts is subject to judicial discretion and will only be used where the court is satisfied that it is in the interests of justice, having considered any representations from parties to the proceedings.</p><p> </p><p>The process for considering live link applications in the criminal courts is set out in the Criminal Procedure Rules, Criminal Practice Directions, and any guidance from the Lord Chief Justice.</p><p> </p><p>In non-criminal courts, and tribunals, the use of audio and video technology is not prescribed in legislation, but provision for those courts and tribunals, as well as for criminal courts, for ensuring open justice in cases conducted using such technology, is made in the Coronavirus Act 2020 and will be made permanent in the PCSC Bill.</p> answering member constituency Croydon South answering member printed Chris Philp question first answered 16/03/2021 17:57:18 answering member 4503 label Biography information for Chris Philp
