answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 31/03/2020 answer text <p>The Government has announced an unprecedented support package to help businesses through this challenging time.</p><p> </p><p>For larger businesses, this includes the new Covid Corporate Financing Facility (CCFF), which will provide additional help for firms facing cash flow disruption.</p><p> </p><p>For small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS) will provide Government-backed finance of up to £5m per business, helping SMEs who risk becoming unviable during this period. The scheme launched on Monday 23 March, and is being offered by a wide range of lenders. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/04/2020 answer text <p>The United Kingdom, through the Department of Health and Social Care and the Department for International Development, has committed £250 million in total to the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) who are key in coordinating international efforts towards developing a COVID-19 vaccine, alongside CEPI’s existing epidemic research portfolio.</p><p>For COVID-19 research, CEPI are working to improve our understanding of the virus and to develop vaccines, including eight potential vaccine candidates. This includes one project at the University of Oxford. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/04/2020 answer text <p>The Government have no plans to ban rent increases during the COVID-19 outbreak as we have already announced extensive measures to protect renters affected by coronavirus. Through the Coronavirus Act 2020, we have introduced legislation to delay when landlords are able to evict tenants. The legislation does this either by extending the notice period that a landlord is required to serve on a tenant to at least three months or, in some cases, creating a three months’ notice requirement where a requirement to give notice does not currently exist.  The Master of the Rolls, with the agreement of the Lord Chancellor, suspended all ongoing housing possession cases for 90 days from 27 March 2020.</p><p>All tenants remain liable for their rent and those who can afford to should continue to pay it. At the end of this period, if arrears have built up, landlords and tenants will be expected to work together to establish an affordable repayment plan, taking into account the tenants’ individual circumstances. For tenants in social housing, landlords will continue to work closely with residents to help them manage their rent and ensure they can access all benefits they are entitled to.</p><p>Alongside this legislative protection, the Chancellor has put in place an unprecedented support package including support for business to pay staff salaries, as well as a strengthening of the welfare safety-net with a £7 billion boost to Universal Credit, income tax and VAT deferrals. And we’ve increased Local Housing Allowance (LHA) rates so that they are set at the 30th percentile of market rents in each area. These significant financial measures will help to support tenants to continue to pay their living costs, including rental payments. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/04/2020 answer text <p>NHS England and NHS Improvement have advised that practices should remain open unless advised to close by the health protection team.</p><p>General practice has a vital role in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, delivering high quality care for both COVID-19 patients and for individuals requiring urgent care or essential routine care for pre-existing conditions that are non COVID-19. The way in which people can access general practice services during the COVID-19 emergency response has changed. Practices are now offering more telephone appointments and video consultations. This is to see as many patients as possible while protecting staff and patients from avoidable risk of infection. Where a face to face appointment or a home visit is clinically necessary the practices will take all necessary steps to reduce the risk of infection, including using personal protective equipment.</p><p>Qualified general practitioners (GPs) who have temporarily, or permanently left the National Health Service have also been asked to return to support the COVID-19 response as part of a “call to arms” for healthcare professionals across the NHS. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/04/2020 answer text <p>We are providing a range of advice and support to further education (FE) and sixth form colleges on the Covid-19 outbreak. We recognise that this situation carries financial implications for many institutions, and we are working to mitigate the impact as much as we can.</p><p>To help manage this pressure, we can confirm that the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) will continue to pay grant funded providers their scheduled monthly profiled payments for the remainder of the 2019/20 funding year.</p><p>ESFA allocations for 2020/21 were confirmed at the end of March, and payments will be made in line with the national profile which will be confirmed in the 2020/21 Funding Rules.</p><p>Officials in the ESFA FE territorial teams are in regular contact with colleges to update them and answer questions that they may have. In addition, through the FE Commissioner and his team and our pool of National Leaders of Governance, we have a range of experienced FE leaders and governors who are able to offer advice and support.</p><p>In addition, we know that colleges are looking at moving more learning on-line to allow students to continue with studies remotely. Jisc is providing practical advice to college staff and the Education and Training Foundation is running webinars for FE providers on how to make the most of online learning.</p><p>We are working hard to provide support to mitigate impact on the FE sector and we know that rules and funding arrangements will need to be adapted. This is why we have been doing all we can to ensure students, both in the UK and overseas, have as much information as possible to help them make informed decisions at this challenging time.</p><p>Health advice for both international and British students in the UK is the same; they should continue to monitor Public Health England guidance, and adhere to the latest social distancing guidance for recommendations on how to reduce social interaction between people in order to reduce the transmission of COVID-19.</p><p>Many universities and other higher education providers are already taking necessary steps to keep their staff and students safe and, where possible, continue providing education.
