From this, estimates are made, based on the best international expertise, on wider impact. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/02/2019 answer text <p>The Government is working to improve the care and support for mothers whose unborn baby receive a diagnosis of a life-limiting disability and who wish to carry their baby to full term.</p><p> </p><p>The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) ‘Guidance on End of Life Care for Infants, Children and Young People with Life Limiting Conditions’ describes the care and support that families of children with life-limiting conditions should expect to receive. The NICE Quality Standards set out that parents should be given information about emotional and psychological support including how to access it; and when their child is nearing the end of their life, they should be supported in developing an advance care plan for their baby.</p><p> </p><p>These standards are reflected in ‘A Perinatal Pathway for Babies with Palliative Care Needs’ produced by the charity Together for Short Lives and in the ‘National Bereavement Care Pathway’ (NBCP). In 2018, the Department provided £106,000 in funding, in addition to an initial £50,000, to Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, to work with other baby loss charities and Royal Colleges to produce the NBCP to reduce the variation in the quality of bereavement care provided by the National Health Service. The NBCP is currently being rolled out officially to 32 trusts and in October 2018, all the NBCP guidance materials and tools were published online.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, the Long Term Plan sets out steps that the NHS is taking to improve access to perinatal mental healthcare for mothers and fathers, and support for parents whose children are in neonatal services as well as new investment in local children’s palliative and end of life care services including children’s hospices.</p> answering member constituency Thurrock answering member printed Jackie Doyle-Price question first answered 25/02/2019 16:13:24 answering member 4065 label Biography information for Dame Jackie Doyle-Price

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/02/2019 answer text The Government has legislated to ensure the effectiveness of the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). Under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is required to take such steps as are necessary to ensure that the Ombudsman is capable of exercising its functions and is empowered to make rules concerning the FOS. The FCA keeps those rules under review to ensure the continued effectiveness of the FOS. The FCA appoints all of the Non-Executives of the FOS Board (including the Chair, with HM Treasury’s approval). Furthermore, under the Financial Services Act 2012, HMT must lay the FOS’s annual report and accounts before Parliament, the FOS is made subject to statutory NAO audit and must publish reports of determinations. Therefore, no information is held on the effect of NIPT on the number of babies born with Down’s syndrome.</p><p> </p><p>Once NIPT is rolled out, data on the choices women make regarding screening and/or diagnosis will be collected. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/02/2019 answer text <p>The Department referred the topic of termination of pregnancy to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for the development of a guideline on service delivery of termination of pregnancy. NICE, as part of the planning for this guideline explored the views of stakeholders on what would be most useful to focus on through a workshop, meetings and through a scope consultation. The final scope of the termination of pregnancy guideline was based on the input that NICE received from the stakeholders that engaged with NICE.</p><p> </p><p>The scope of the termination of pregnancy guideline clearly sets out that the NICE guideline is for women who have already decided to have a termination of pregnancy or have undergone a life-saving termination of pregnancy.</p><p> </p><p>NICE is looking at the evidence for common harms such as, haemorrhage and infection where there may be evidence of a difference in long-term outcomes.
