The review considered the impact of reduced lottery income and made a series of recommendations to ensure that funding is spent to support the resilience of the heritage sector, to maximise the benefits of heritage for people across the UK, and to preserve the UK’s heritage for future generations.</p><p> </p><p>HLF is treating 2018/19 as a transitional year as they prepare for their next five-year funding framework, starting in 2019. They are currently consulting on their framework and are actively encouraging people to give their views. The Government is determined to ensure that businesses have stability and certainty in the period leading up to the UK’s departure from the EU, and that we use the opportunities that departure presents for the whole of the UK’s digital and technology industries.</p><p> </p><p>On digital, the UK will not be part of the EU's Digital Single Market, because we will be leaving the Single Market. The Government is undertaking a comprehensive programme of analytical work, looking at the implications of UK withdrawal from the EU. The primary role of UK Sport is to strategically invest National Lottery and Exchequer income to maximise the performance of UK athletes in the Olympic and Paralympic Games and the global events which precede them. UK Sport's investments in sports are made on a four year basis, with all investment decisions and levels reviewed annually. However, Government will consider financial flexibilities for local authorities to enable essential works to go ahead. This would not include general improvements or enhancements to buildings which go beyond works needed to make a building safe.</p><p>If a local authority building owner considers any of their buildings to be unsafe, they will need to determine what measures are essential to make each building fire safe.
