answer text
The hidden nature of modern slavery makes producing an accurate measure of its scale difficult.

In March 2020 the Office for National Statistics noted that there is no definitive source of data or suitable method available to accurately quantify the number of potential victims of modern slavery in the UK.

The Government is, however, committed to improving its understanding of the nature and scale of this complex crime. Since 2019, the Government has invested £10 million in the creation of the Policy and Evidence Centre for Modern Slavery and Human Rights to transform our understanding of modern slavery. The Home Office will continue working with the Centre and other partners to strengthen the evidence base underpinning our policy and operational response to modern slavery and to develop more robust ways to assess prevalence.
more like this

answer text
Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 requires businesses with a turnover of £36 million or more to report annually on the steps they have taken to prevent modern slavery in their operations and supply chains.

The landmark ‘Transparency in Supply Chains’ provisions in the Modern Slavery Act have driven a change in business culture, spotlighting modern slavery risks on boardroom agendas and within the international human rights community. We recognise, however, there is more to do to keep businesses focused on this important issue.

Compliance with section 54 is high. In 2019, the Home Office contracted the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre (BHRRC) to undertake an audit of compliance with section 54. The audit was concluded in January 2020 with data accurate up to this point. The high-level findings of this audit were published on 17 September 2020 in the Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner’s annual report available here at Gov.UK.

In addition, in March 2021, the Government launched the modern slavery statement registry to radically enhance transparency by bringing together modern slavery statements on a single platform. The registry will provide a key tool for Government and others to monitor and drive compliance with section 54 . We have been encouraged by use of the registry. Since launch, over 9,300 modern slavery statements covering over 31,200 organisations have been submitted on a voluntary basis.

answer text
No specific assessment has been made. However, in December 2021 the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published Cenobamate for treating focal onset seizures in epilepsy, which recommends cenobamate as an option for treating focal onset seizures in adults with drug-resistant epilepsy. A copy of the guidance is attached.

In April 2022, NICE also published Epilepsies in children, young people and adults, which aims to improve diagnosis and treatment for different seizure types and epilepsy syndromes and includes recommendations on the principles of treatment, treating epileptic seizures and non-pharmacological treatments. It also includes information on the medications which should be used to treat various types of epileptic seizures. A copy of the guideline is attached. NICE’s guidelines represent best practice and are expected to be taken into account by clinicians in the treatment of individual patients.
more like this

These are available to all farmers in England with arable land and improved grassland.

In addition, we have been piloting three further grassland standards, and learnings from these have informed the standards that we launched in June 2022 and future standards. These will seek to support farmers to manage their soil to increase biodiversity and resilience to climate change, improve soil condition and carbon storage, and to improve water and air quality.
more like this

answer text
The Department for Transport monitors the progress of the installation of chargepoints and it publishes data, broken down to local authority areas, on a quarterly basis, the latest of which was published on 1st October 2022.

The Government wants to ensure that the right chargepoints are installed in the right places. This spring we published our electric vehicle infrastructure strategy, which defines our vision for the continued roll-out of a world-leading network. In the strategy, the Government set out that it expected at least ten times more public chargepoints by the end of the decade, bringing the number to around 300,000 by 2030.

The Local EV Infrastructure (LEVI) fund will support local authorities to work with industry and transform the availability of charging for drivers without off-street parking in England. In addition, the Department’s On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme is available to all UK local authorities to provide chargepoints for residents without access to private parking.

answer text
We are not expecting any significant impact to the overall supply of eggs, and the UK has a highly resilient food supply chain. However, farmers are facing extra pressures this year as a result of global rising input costs for feed and energy combined with the bird flu outbreak, which is why we continue to work closely with industry to monitor the market and help them with costs.

We have set out a package of measures to support the poultry sector during this time and we will continue to monitor the situation. We are working closely with all stakeholders on how they can maintain the supply of British eggs in supermarkets. The Minister for Food and Farming recently hosted an egg industry roundtable with representatives from across the UK egg supply chain, to consider the challenges currently facing the industry.
more like this
