answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/03/2020 answer text <p>The Government has announced an unprecedented package of support for businesses and individuals affected by Covid-19, and remains committed to doing whatever it takes to support the economy as necessary.</p><p> </p><p>UK VAT registered businesses, including charities, can defer VAT payments due with their VAT returns between now and the end of June. No UK VAT registered business will have to make a VAT payment alongside their VAT return to HMRC in that period. They will have until the end of the financial year to repay.</p><p> </p><p>The Government will also give all eligible retail, hospitality and leisure businesses in England a 100% business rates holiday for the next 12 months. The Government also extended the support available to individuals and businesses, including a package of government-backed and guaranteed loans, which make available an initial £330 billion of guarantees – equivalent to 15% of GDP.</p><p> </p><p>For Income Tax Self-Assessment, payments due on the 31st of July 2020 will be deferred until the 31st of January 2021.</p><p> </p><p>Under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, employers (including charities) can put workers on temporary leave and the government will pay them cash grants of 80% of their wages up to a cap of £2,500 a month, providing they keep the worker employed. They will receive the grant from HMRC, covering the cost of wages backdated to 1 March 2020.</p><p> </p><p>Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) will be available for those unable to work because they are self-isolating in line with government advice; this is on top of the Prime Minister’s announcement that SSP will be payable from day 1 instead of day 4 for affected individuals. Support will be available through Universal Credit and Contributory Employment and Support Allowance for those not eligible for SSP.</p><p> </p><p>HMRC have scaled up their Time to Pay offer to all taxpayers, including charities, who are in temporary financial distress as a result of Covid-19 and have outstanding tax liabilities. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/03/2020 answer text <p>The Chancellor has made clear that, for those businesses which have an appropriate policy that covers pandemics and unspecified notifiable diseases, as well as government-ordered closure, the government’s medical advice of 16 March is sufficient to allow businesses to make a claim against their insurance, provided the other terms and conditions in their policy are met.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, the FCA’s rules require insurers to handle claims fairly and promptly; provide reasonable guidance to help a policyholder make a claim, and appropriate information on its progress; not reject a claim unreasonably; and settle claims promptly once settlement terms are agreed.</p><p> </p><p>However, most businesses have not purchased insurance that covers pandemic related losses. Rather than providing funding, it will provide places with access to expert advice, training, a repository of data and best practice and will also help to coordinate a range of groups with an interest in the evolution of our high streets and town centres.</p><p>The first 14 locations to pilot the products and services of the Task Force were announced on 30 December and were chosen due to their status as “near misses” in their Future High Street Fund bids. The remaining pilot locations will test individual products and services and will be announced in due course. They will include a range of other Task Force users, including Business Improvement Districts, community groups and a Local Enterprise Partnership.</p><p>Following the pilot, the Task Force will roll out the products and services tested in the pilot phase to benefit localities across England, including the Sheffield City Region, this summer.</p><p>With regards to funding, Sheffield City Region is already benefitting from our focus on towns and local high streets, with four places across South Yorkshire currently developing business cases as part of the Future High Streets Fund and five towns invited to develop Town Investment Plans to agree Town Deals for each place.</p><p>We will open a second round of the Future High Streets Fund in due course and will welcome proposals from local authorities and communities to bring about change for their high streets. It has set a spend limit of £750 per week and an account deposit limit of £350 per week. An account can play up to 75 instant win games per day. Players are also able to set personal, tighter limits if they so wish.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The People’s Postcode Lottery does not sell instant win games. It voluntarily limits on the online purchase of Lottery tickets to three entries per month, totaling £30.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The Health Lottery’s instant win games have a spend limit of £500 per day. Their draw-based game has a limit of £80 per person for any single lottery. Their QuickWin online game has a limit of £400 per week with a day cap of £75. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/03/2020 answer text <p>The Government does not have any plans to impose a maximum purchase price for scratchcards.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The 2016 Health Survey found that lottery products are low risk, with scratchcards having a problem gambling rate of 1.8%.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The Secretary of State’s directions to the Gambling Commission state that National Lottery games should have sufficient controls to prevent excessive play. They also require the Commission to ensure that the price of games, in the opinion of the Commission, are not unreasonably high.</p><p>The National Lottery’s player protection policies can be found in the <a href="https://www.national-lottery.co.uk/responsible-play/consumer-protection-strategy" target="_blank">Consumer Protection Strategy</a>. Some society lottery operators also offer scratchcards, either physically through retailers or online.
