answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/10/2019 answer text <p>There are comparatively high levels of customer engagement in the UK mortgage market, with 75% of customers taking out a new product within 6 months of being on the reversion rate.</p><p>Whilst the levels of customer engagement are comparatively high in the mortgage market, the Government is not complacent. That is why HM Treasury (HMT) has worked closely with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) on changes to their lending rules, which will remove the regulatory barrier which currently prevents some borrowers from switching to a new deal. We are working in partnership with Brazilian businesses, farmers and State governments to support sustainable development for the benefit of Brazilian communities and ecosystems, investing over £150million of climate finance in forest programmes across the country. We have funded the sector through the National Adoption Recruitment Steering Group, which has run both the National Adoption Week campaign and wider recruitment projects to target potential adopters in their areas for the children they have waiting. This will include children from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds and children over the age of 5. Part of this work has included work with churches and mosques to encourage adopters from a range of different backgrounds.</p><p> </p><p>We are commissioning behavioural insights research to better understand the motivations and barriers for people who are interested in becoming foster carers or adopters. This piece of work is focused on wider recruitment but should give us insight into how we better engage adopters for children who are harder to place.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, at a recent No 10 roundtable, I gave commitments that the department will be:</p><ul><li><p>Exploring through the Adoption &amp; Special Guardianship Leadership Board decision making at Local Authority level and reported barriers to BAME families becoming adopters;</p></li><li><p>Reviewing how we can improve support in schools and in particular how designated teachers for adopted children and Virtual School Heads can best support adopted BAME children;</p></li><li><p>Improving working with BAME stakeholders, to ensure their viewpoints are included in policy development and implementation;</p></li><li><p>Asking Regional Adoption Agencies to create a national BAME recruitment strategy in collaboration with key stakeholders such as the voluntary sector organisation Homes for Good; and</p></li><li><p>Considering how best to ensure all their frontline social workers understand the law and are supportive of BAME families coming forward to adopt.</p></li></ul><p> </p> answering member constituency Chippenham answering member printed Michelle Donelan question first answered 17/10/2019 16:55:32 answering member 4530 label Biography information for Michelle Donelan

We introduced Education, Health and Care plans to provide personalised and tailored support for those children with more complex needs and have also announced £780 million additional funding in 2020-21, bringing the total funding for high needs to £7.2 billion.</p><p> </p><p>All children who were adopted, including children with disabilities, are also entitled to access the Adoption Support Fund (ASF) which can pay for essential therapeutic services. The ASF aims to ensure that these families receive good, timely support. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/10/2019 answer text <p>The Government is very clear about the dangers that alcohol poses to the unborn child and reflects this in the advice it gives. The United Kingdom Chief Medical Officers’ low risk drinking guidelines published in 2016 provide clear advice to women not to drink alcohol if they are planning for a pregnancy or are pregnant. Information available on the NHS website also reflects this advice.</p><p>Additionally, the Government has been clear that the alcohol industry must reflect the UK Chief Medical Officers' alcohol guidelines on the labels of their products which includes a no drinking in pregnancy logo.</p><p> </p><p>Public Health England, NHS England and local commissioners are already undertaking awareness and education on the dangers of drinking alcohol while pregnant.
