answer text <p>A public consultation on proposals to ban the distribution and/or sale of plastic straws, plastic-stemmed cotton buds and plastic drink stirrers in England was held between October and December 2018.</p><p> </p><p>A consultation stage impact assessment was conducted, which considered levels of plastic straws polluting beaches and the ocean. It can be found online on the Government’s website: <a href="https://consult.defra.gov.uk/waste-and-recycling/plastic-straws-stirrers-and-buds/" target="_blank">https://consult.defra.gov.uk/waste-and-recycling/plastic-straws-stirrers-and-buds/</a>.</p><p> </p><p>Following this consultation, we will be introducing a ban on the supply of single-use plastic straws (with exemptions), plastic drink stirrers, and plastic-stemmed cotton buds to the end user in April 2020. A final impact assessment will be produced in due course.</p> more like this
