Legislation is in place and provides protection against redundancy and detriment. This draft Bill is currently undergoing scrutiny by a Joint Parliamentary Committee.</p><p>For victims of domestic abuse who are married, or are partners of, British or settled sponsors, there is the option of applying for immediate crisis support under the Destitute Domestic Violence Concession (DDVC).</p><p>In the Government’s response to its consultation on Domestic Abuse we committed to a number of further non-legislative measures in respect of migrant victims of domestic abuse. This included a commitment to consider widening the cohort of individuals eligible under the DDVC. Claimants can access up to 100% of the total expected monthly award, for which they can pay back over a period of up to 12 months. From October 2021, this maximum repayment period will be extended further to 16 months.</p><p> </p><p>Around 60 per cent of new claims take up an advance. I raised the case with the Libyan Ministers of Justice and Foreign Affairs during my visit to Tripoli in April 2018 and followed up with letters to the Ministers on the subject, hand delivered by our Ambassador.</p><p>Raising legacy cases with the Libyan Government is challenging in the context of the ongoing political and security situation.
