answer text
The Minister’s Mandate, which is mainly concerned with the conservation of the natural and cultural heritage of the Crown lands of the New Forest, does not contain any references to the provision or the letting of dwellings.

The principles guiding the Forestry Commission’s approach to housing in the New Forest are unchanged. The Commission aims primarily to meet its operational requirements in respect of housing for its own workforce, some of whom are also Commoners, but also continues to offer discounted residential rents to other Commoners in the New Forest. The Commission plays a vital role in the life of the New Forest, and over the past 25 years has done much to support commoning through its land management and property policies. This includes substantial public subsidy on the basis of the benefits to commoning and maintaining the traditions of the New Forest, but this has to be balanced with the need for financial sustainability in managing the local housing stock and the cost to the taxpayer of caring for the nation’s forests.

I would expect the Forestry Commission to seek approval from Ministers before any fundamental change in approach is implemented.

answer text
I want to ensure we can be proud of the next generation of homes we build. We know more needs to be done to protect consumers.

We have announced our intention for a New Homes Ombudsman to be established and I am considering options for a shadow ombudsman. We will be bringing forward legislation to require developers to belong to a New Homes Ombudsman, which will treat home buyers fairly. We’ll soon be consulting on the details of how this will work - to raise standards and ensure that problems encountered by consumers are resolved faster and more effectively.

We will also establish the condition that housing developers must belong to a New Homes Ombudsman to participate in the new Help to Buy Scheme in England, post 2021. In the meantime we expect industry to improve the quality of new build homes in the first place, treat customers fairly and resolve problems swiftly.
more like this

answer text
Under the National Health Service (Charges to Overseas Visitors) (Amended) Regulations 2017, providers of National Health Service secondary funded care are required by law to make and recover costs from patient who are not ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom where no category of exemption applies. In cases where treatment is non-urgent, providers are required to recover costs in advance of treatment.

In order to assist providers in doing this, the Department has issued guidance to providers of NHS funded secondary care ‘Guidance on implementing the overseas visitors charging regulations’ which set out the rules and best practices processes to follow to recover costs for treatment, including identifying those who may be chargeable and ensuring they are charged the relevant fee. This includes identifying those patients whose treatment costs may be subject to reciprocal healthcare arrangements, including the European Health Insurance Card. The national guidance sets out that those patients who are identified as chargeable must be charged using either the national tariff or a locally agreed tariff if there is no national tariff for the treatment provided.
