answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/04/2019 answer text <p>No claimant has to go five weeks without receiving support, as advances, worth up to 100 per cent of a claimant’s indicative award, are available up front, if there is need. Advances are paid back over a period of 12 months and in the Autumn Budget 2018, we announced that from October 2021, the payback period for these advances will be extended further, up to 16 months. This is just one of a number of measures the Department has put in place to support claimants such as paying those claimants moving from Housing Benefit onto Universal Credit a two week ‘transitional housing payment’. We are also introducing a two-week run on for eligible claimants of Income Support, Jobseeker’s Allowance and Employment and Support Allowance from July 2020.</p><p> </p><p>No estimate of this nature has been made as the assessment period is a necessary and crucial part of the claim procedure. Claimants receive their first payment five weeks after the point of claim because an assessment period of four weeks is needed to calculate entitlement, followed by one week of payment processing.</p><p> </p><p>We take terminal illness very seriously and treat people in such circumstances with the upmost speed and sensitivity. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/04/2019 answer text <p>The UK has a proud history of providing protection to those who need it – and this Government is committed to ensuring refugees can take positive steps towards integration as they rebuild their lives in the UK.</p><p>The Government provides a safe and legal route to bring families together through its family reunion policy. This allows a partner and children under 18 of those granted protection in the UK to join them here, if they formed part of the family unit before the sponsor fled their country. Under this policy, we have granted visas to over 26,000 partners and children of those granted protection in the UK in the last five years – that is over 5,000 a year. In exceptional circumstances, our policy also makes clear there is discretion to grant visas outside the Immigration Rules, which caters for extended family members including young adult sons or daughters who are dependent on family here and living in dangerous situations.</p><p>Family connections are an important enabler of integration. However, we must also ensure we do not create incentives for more people, particularly children, to leave their homes and risk dangerous journeys hoping relatives can join them later. These have been consistently the top 2 factors for the years during which we have collected this data and have risen in line with trends in demand.</p><p>Over the 5-year period to 2019-20, councils have access, through the local government finance settlement (LGFS), to over £200 billion to deliver local services, including children’s services. Core spending power has increased from £45.1 billion in 2018-19 to £46.4 billion in 2019-20.</p><p>In addition to this the Autumn Budget announced a further £410 million in 2019-20 for local authorities to invest in adult and children’s social care services. It also announced £84 million of extra funding, over the next 5 years, to support local authorities to invest in initiatives that improve social work practice and decision making.</p><p>The Department for Education are working closely with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government on the review of relative needs and resources to develop a robust, up-to-date approach to funding distribution for children's services at LGFSs.</p><p>The government will continue to work closely with the sector to consider long-term children’s services funding as part of the upcoming Spending Review.</p> answering member constituency Stratford-on-Avon answering member printed Nadhim Zahawi grouped question UIN 237048 question first answered 01/04/2019 15:31:47 answering member 4113 label Biography information for Nadhim Zahawi
