answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/04/2019 answer text <p>The Government is committed to supporting all victims of domestic abuse.</p><p>My Department does not hold information on the availability of refuges for victims of domestic abuse in (a) Lewisham Borough and (b) London. However, I am pleased to confirm that London Borough of Lewisham were successful in their bid for both the 2016-18 £20 million and the 2018-20 £22 million funds, partnering with the service provider Refuge and building upon their refuge provision and improving support for victims of domestic abuse with complex needs.</p><p>Through the 2016-18 fund London Borough of Lewisham was awarded £114,224 over the two years, including receiving a share of the £1.1 million top up funding. In the current 2018-20 fund London Borough of Lewisham has been awarded £90,075, with the first instalment being released December 2018 and the remaining to be released in the 2019/20 financial year. London Borough of Lewisham were among 19 successful projects submitted by London Boroughs securing a total investment of £5,764,849.</p><p>My Department has also carried out a review of how domestic abuse services are locally commissioned and funded across England. We have worked closely with sector partners, drawing on their data, expertise and knowledge. Their recent report, The Impact of Creative Europe in the UK, concludes that the UK receives an average of €18.4 million a year and we understand that participants enjoy additional benefits such as networking and partnership opportunities.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The next generation of EU programmes are due to begin in 2021, and are currently under negotiation in the EU. The UK is exploring continued participation in EU programmes where it is in the EU and UK's mutual interest.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The Political Declaration Setting out the Framework for the Future Relationship between the EU and the UK sets out (at paragraph 11) that the UK and EU will establish general principles, terms and conditions for the UK’s participation in Union programmes and that these should include a fair and appropriate financial contribution. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/03/2019 answer text <p>The sheep sector plays a vital role in contributing to rural life, local economies and the iconic landscapes of the UK. With over 50% of the national flock being in Wales and Scotland, the sheep sector is an important sector across the UK.</p><p> </p><p>The climate and topography of the UK mean that much of it is unsuited to commercial crop production, especially in Wales, Scotland and the north and west of England, where livestock production is the main use of agricultural land. Sheep are a major part of that, with breeds adapted to thrive in areas of harsh climate, topography and low feed-value vegetation. Furthermore, grazing of sheep has a key role in maintaining open habitats, primarily grasslands and heathlands, by hindering succession to scrub or woodland in the lowlands and sub-montane zone. In doing so they are an important land management resource.</p><p> </p><p>We are currently developing our own farming policies as we prepare to leave the EU. Our intention, as laid out in the Agriculture Bill, is for our future policies to primarily reward farmers for providing environmental benefits. We are currently working with farmers, land managers and representative bodies including the National Farmers Union, Tenant Farmers Association and National Sheep Association to ensure that our future Environmental Land Management system can work with livestock farms including sheep farms in lowland and upland areas.</p><p> </p><p>Defra undertakes and coordinates research across the whole food production system, looking at factors including environmental impacts, productivity, efficiency, waste reduction etc. This includes research into sustainable diets, local and seasonal produce, environmental labelling, supply chain efficiency, and sustainable consumption.</p> answering member constituency Scarborough and Whitby answering member printed Mr Robert Goodwill question first answered 14/03/2019 11:54:19 answering member 1562 label Biography information for Sir Robert Goodwill
