answer text <p>The Labour government set up the Pension Protection Fund (PPF) to pay a meaningful level of compensation to DB scheme members where the sponsoring employer becomes insolvent.</p><p> </p><p>The PPF is fundamentally funded by a levy on eligible schemes. Therefore, any decision to increase either the level of compensation, or to provide inflation increases to pensions built up before April 1997, would result in significant increases to levy payers. It is not proposed to change the present law.</p> more like this

answer text <p>We are unable to estimate accurately the air quality impacts resulting from Volkwagen’s actions as it is not possible to quantify the additional emissions of the affected vehicles under all conditions of operation.</p><p> </p><p>However the Department has made a comparison of the old software to the new ‘fix’ software under test track conditions. Results from tests of four Skoda vehicles (Roomster, Rapid, Superb and Octavia) indicate 25-40% lower NOx emissions with the new ‘fix’ software.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The National Food Crime Unit (NFCU) is an intelligence unit which does not currently have the remit, resources or powers to conduct its own investigations or prosecutions. Intelligence gathered and analysed is therefore disseminated to partners, primarily in local authorities.</p><p> </p><p>The NFCU became fully operational in early 2016. That year it disseminated 503 individual pieces of intelligence to partners making a further 595 disseminations in 2017. As local authority and policing partners are responsible for deciding what enforcement action is appropriate, the NFCU does not routinely receive feedback on the outcome of these disseminations. We are aware that in 2017 NFCU intelligence led to the first conviction in the United Kingdom for the illegal sale of toxic chemical 2,4 dinitrophenol for consumption under food safety legislation.</p> more like this
