answer text <p>Economic crime undermines the integrity of our financial institutions and markets, enables criminals to hide, store and benefit from the proceeds of their crime, and facilitates grand corruption originating overseas.</p><p>It is difficult to be precise about the scale of the problem overall, but the National Strategic Assessment of Serious and Organised Crime published by the National Crime Agency in June 2017 indicated that money laundering impacting the UK is likely to exceed £90 billion a year. This represents the proceeds of a range of exploitative and violent crimes, including large scale drug dealing and people trafficking.</p> more like this
