answer text <p>A political solution is the best way to bring long-term stability to Yemen and end the conflict. The UK continues to strongly support the work of UN Special Envoy, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, and his tireless efforts in working with all parties to bring about peace in Yemen.</p><p>Through the &quot;Quad&quot; initiative, the UK has brought together leading Coalition members, the US and UN to make meaningful progress towards a peaceful solution to the conflict. The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my Rt Hon. Friend the Member for Uxbridge and South Ruislip (Mr Johnson) hosted the first Quad meeting in London in July and the format has reconvened on an almost monthly basis since. I attended the last meeting in Riyadh on 18 December, during which it was agreed that the UN peace proposals represent an outline for a comprehensive agreement which the Yemeni parties need to negotiate the details of.</p><p>We continue to call on all parties to the conflict to renew their commitment to the Cessation of Hostilities for the sake of the people of Yemen.</p>
