answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/11/2016 answer text <p>The Department has not made any recent assessment of the effectiveness of nutrition labelling in reducing obesity.</p><p>However, a wealth of international evidence demonstrates the effectiveness of nutrition labelling in helping consumers make healthier choices. The purpose of mandatory nutrition labelling, which the United Kingdom supported in European Union legislation, is to ensure consumers have the information they need to make healthier choices. Since then evidence from dietary surveys suggests that consumption of fruit and vegetables increased slightly to peak in 2006/07 but there has been little or no change in consumption since the late 2000s. It is not possible to determine to what extent these changes in consumption are due to the 5 A DAY programme compared to a range of other factors influencing dietary choices, such as price, which are likely to have an influence. The DIT aggregates UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), UK Export and Finance (UKEF) and Trade Policy Units from the Department for Business, Energy &amp; Industrial Strategy (BEIS).</p><p>Until such time as a transfer of functions order establishes my Rt hon Friend the Secretary of State for International Trade as a corporation sole, DIT remains a unified Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and Department for Business, Energy &amp; Industrial Strategy (BEIS) department for accounting purposes.
