answer text <p>Since 2004, the Department has awarded 107 contracts to the University of York, of which 105 are entirely research based. The total value of all contracts is £92.96 million. Information prior to 2004 is not held.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Since 2007 the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has awarded 10 contracts to the University of York (this figure includes six contracts awarded to York Health Economics Consortium, which is based at the University). answer text <p>Medicines Pharmacy and Industry Group (MPIG) is part of the Department’s Innovation, Growth and Technology Directorate, and leads policy for the Department on pharmaceuticals, the medicines supply chain, and the role of pharmacies (including prescription charges). MPIG is responsible for:</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>- the delivery of the medicines pricing schemes including the Pharmaceutical Price Regulation Scheme;</p><p> </p><p>- the delivery of frameworks for medicines procurement in secondary care;</p><p> </p><p>- sponsorship role for two of the Department’s arm’s length bodies;</p><p> </p><p>- the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence; and</p><p> </p><p>- the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The key objective of MPIG is to support the safe, efficient and effective access to and use of medicines in the National Health Service.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The delivery of MPIG against plan is assessed internally through the Department’s Quarterly Corporate Accountability Review system. On Kashmir it is our, long-standing position that it is for India and Pakistan to find a lasting resolution to the situation there, taking into account the wishes of the Kashmiri people. answer text <p>On 3 June 2015, NHS England invited expressions of interest from organisations and partnerships across England to become vanguard sites for new care models focusing on urgent and emergency care. These sites will test new approaches to delivering urgent care and aim to improve the coordination of services and reduce pressure on accident and emergency departments. It is expected that about five million people will be covered by the initial phase of the vanguard sites, which could be rolled out across England in the next couple of years.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Across England as a whole, new urgent and emergency care networks are being developed. These will operate strategically, to improve the consistency and quality of urgent and emergency care by bringing together System Resilience Groups (SRGs) and other stakeholders to address challenges in the urgent and emergency care system that are difficult for single SRGs to address in isolation.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The election of President Sirisena represents an opportunity for Sri Lanka to grow as a stable prosperous and inclusive country, reflecting the wishes of all of its people. The President’s 100 day programme and manifesto includes social, economic, educational and governance commitments that should benefit Tamil people. These include better access to education in the Tamil language; relief to displaced people; a democratic civil administration in the North and South of the island; bringing an end to racial and religious hatred; and, steps to promote reconciliation between communities.</p><p>We will be following the implementation of President Sirisena’s commitments closely, and stand ready to support Sri Lanka’s path to long term reconciliation.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Department is aware that the practice of suppliers having to pay to join or remain on a supplier list is an issue in some sectors. As a result, the Government has already taken action to prohibit this practice in certain sectors.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>We are currently consulting to understand the prevalence and impact of this practice economy wide. The consultation will strengthen the evidence we have on supplier lists, and will allow us to understand the necessary scope, and implications of further changes.
