answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/03/2015 answer text <p>The British Government has not specifically raised Dr Masaud Jahromi’s case but we are aware that he was arrested in 2011 and charged with illegal gathering. An official from our Embassy in Bahrain attended his court hearing in January 2012. In January 2015, Masaud was one of 72 individuals who had their nationalities revoked. Our Ambassador to Bahrain has raised these revocations at Ministerial level with the Government of Bahrain. All of the individuals affected have the right to appeal. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/03/2015 answer text <p>Ukraine already benefits from autonomous trade preferences which enable most Ukrainian goods to enter the EU market free from import tariffs. In April 2014, the EU unilaterally eliminated or reduced its customs duties on goods originating from Ukraine; for instance, EU import tariffs were removed immediately for 94.7% of industrial products from Ukraine. These autonomous trade preferences have now been extended, so that they will apply for 2015, after which the EU-Ukraine Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) is due to be applied. Under the terms of the DCFTA, 98.1% of the value Ukrainian exports to the EU will become tariff-free. The UK has given its full support for these measures.</p><p> </p><p>The EU is providing significant financial and technical assistance to support Ukraine, including help with economic reform and political stabilisation. In addition to our £4.35 million share of these EU and other multilateral efforts. The UK has also committed a further £1.4 million bilaterally this financial year for humanitarian support in Ukraine. On 23 February, the Prime Minister announced that the UK will release £15 million in emergency assistance for Ukraine. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/03/2015 answer text <p>The number of deaths in the Mediterranean, and on the land routes from the Horn of Africa to the Southern Mediterranean, are a tragic reminder of the great risks migrants take when they attempt the perilous journey to reach Europe.</p><p>The Government believes that the best approach lies in the continuation of Frontex (EU external border agency) Operation Triton alongside Italy’s ongoing coordination of normal search and rescue activities. Frontex has been clear that its maritime operations will assist with individual search and rescue efforts in their operational areas if called upon to do so by national search and rescue coordinators.</p><p>At the same time, the UK is continuing work with other EU countries to tackle the causes of illegal immigration and the organised trafficking gangs behind it, as well as increasing support and protection for those who need it in North and East Africa. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/03/2015 answer text <p>Officials from our Consulate-General in Jerusalem closely monitor demolitions in East Jerusalem and the West Bank, working with the EU and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. We regularly make clear, publicly and privately, to the Israeli authorities our serious concerns about the actual or threatened demolition of Palestinian homes and infrastructure in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. Demolitions cause unnecessary suffering to ordinary Palestinians; are harmful to the peace process; and are contrary to international humanitarian law. The Fourth Geneva Convention is clear that the destruction of any real or personal property in Occupied Territory is not justified unless it is rendered absolutely necessary by military operations.</p><p>In addition we continue to support Palestinians facing demolition or eviction through support to the Norwegian Refugee Council legal aid programme which helps individuals to challenge these decisions in the Israeli legal system. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/02/2015 answer text <p>The EU's external border agency, Frontex, has stated that since the launch of Operation Triton in November 2014 they helped to save 6,000 migrants on their way to Italy. The UK has responded positively to requests from Frontex to deploy two debriefers and a nationality expert to support Operation Triton, with further support committed for 2015. We have made clear that we are willing to consider any further requests from Frontex for UK support.<br><br>The recent deaths are a tragic reminder of the great risks to migrants attempting to reach Europe by crossing the Mediterranean in unseaworthy and ill-equipped vessels. During Italy's Mare Nostrum operation in 2014 many thousands of migrants were intercepted and brought to Italy, but over 3,000 died at sea. <br><br>While EU Ministers have previously agreed that the principal responsibility for migrants and refugees rests with the Member State whose territory they arrive in, the Government continues to provide concrete support to those Member States under particular pressure both through the EU agencies and directly. <br><br>We are also investing in joint EU efforts to mitigate pressures on these Member States through work in key countries of origin and transit, including efforts to tackle the root causes of these dangerous journeys and the organised criminal gangs behind them, and to increase support for protection for refugees in North and East Africa and in the Middle East.</p><p>In particular we are we are playing a leading role in the new ‘Khartoum Process’ launched at a Ministerial Conference in Rome on 28 November, aimed at combating people smuggling and human trafficking in the Horn of Africa.
