answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/02/2015 answer text <p>This Government has taken a series of steps to save taxpayers' money and improve overall quality of the training provision. <br><br>Civil Service Learning was established in April 2011 in response to a wide ranging review of the delivery of training across the Civil Service. The new model is delivering better value out of its investment in training, reducing duplication in procurement and making greater use of the external market to provide the training which the Civil Service requires. <br><br>The figures below illustrate the spending on the category 'training' over the past six years, to illustrate the efficiencies we have achieved. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/02/2015 answer text <p>The civil service aspiration is for five days’ training and development for each member of staff every year.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The majority of training and development is not formal training but is carried out within teams and groups and includes: research; on the job training; shadowing; mentoring; and coaching. This could include formal training courses but may also be made up of other professional development opportunities, for example job shadowing and on the job training. This is not a maximum or minimum target, but a benchmark of expectations.
