Professor Samar Hasnain of Liverpool University has represented the UK Government at the SESAME Council, following his appointment in 2004. The Government has provided funding since 2008/9 to Professor Samar Hasnain to support his role as the UK’s representative on the SESAME council as follows:</p><p>- 2008/9 – 2013/14: £15k per annum</p><p>- Additional funding of £22k per annum was recently approved following a review of the project for the financial years 2014/15 – 2015/16</p><p>Professor Samar Hasnain in his role as an observer undertakes various activities on behalf of the Government for the progress of SESAME including:</p><p>- Representing the Government at the Interim Council meetings</p><p>- Producing an annual report on SESAME and its benefits to the UK; and</p><p>- Spreading awareness of the existence and desirability of SESAME to existing and potential SESAME member countries.</p><p>He is also an active member of the Science Advisory Committee which meets twice a year.</p><p>This Department does not currently fund any other collaborative scientific research projects between Israel, Iran and the Palestinian Authority.</p> answering member constituency Tunbridge Wells answering member printed Greg Clark question first answered 22/07/2014 14:44:15 answering member 1578 label Biography information for Greg Clark

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/07/2014 answer text <p>During routine work to add existing records to the store in Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territories (BIOT) immigration officials noted water damage to a small number of records, caused by a leaking roof. This is believed to have resulted from extremely heavy weather in June 2014. Although the extent of the damage was not clear on initial inspection at the time, I refer my hon. Friend to the answer given by the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my hon. Friend the member for Boston and Skegness (Mr Simmonds) on 8 July 2014, Official Report, column 172W.</p><p>However, since 8 July, BIOT immigration officials have conducted a fuller inspection, and previously wet paper records have been dried out. They report that no flight records have been lost as a result of the water damage. A small number of immigration arrival cards from 2004 have been damaged, but that information about those flights is still available in the daily occurrence logs and monthly statistics. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/07/2014 answer text <p>The Nuclear Innovation and Research Office (NIRO) is an independent body, hosted by the National Nuclear Laboratory and contracted, by Government, to provide technical support and expert secretariat services to the Nuclear Innovation and Research Advisory Board (NIRAB). It was created at the end of 2013.</p><p>With the exception of the Chair, appointments to the NIRAB are unfunded, however Government has currently contracted NIRO for services worth £650,000 and this contract runs until March 2015. The NIRO employs four full time staff who are currently seconded from the NNL and Rolls Royce Ltd. The wages of these employees are included in the contractual arrangements. The skills make-up of the staff in the NIRO is a matter for the organisation itself.</p><p>The NIRO does not undertake research in its own right and, to date, has not issued any publications.
