answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/07/2014 answer text <p>As the minister with responsibility for HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) this question has been passed to me to answer.</p><p> </p><p>Following the Spending Review 2013 HMRC is now working on its longer term plans; further announcements will be made in due course on the implications for individuals, their work and the offices that they work in. In addition HMRC will be saying more about the overall size and shape of the department in the autumn.</p><p> </p><p>In terms of addressing the concerns of employees HMRC has been actively talking to its people about the future direction of the organisation. This conversation is being led through a series of <em>Building our Future</em> events, which all staff are invited to attend. As part of that dialogue with staff HMRC has made it clear that the department needs to modernise and has already advised that it will become a smaller, more highly professional organisation working out of fewer locations. Those people who remain with the organisation will have greater opportunities to retrain into a range of interesting and rewarding roles.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>HMRC has not offered any voluntary redundancies in Northern Ireland in the current financial year. However, this cannot be ruled out in the future if redeployment options cannot be found for staff in need of new roles. The Scottish Government has published its legacy programme and initiatives for the Glasgow Games.</p><p> </p><p>The UK Government is supporting a joint business conference with the Scottish Government and the Commonwealth Business Council and the British Business House. During the visit of Pakistan Prime Minister Sharif in April, the Prime Minister, my Right Hon. Friend the Member for Witney (Mr Cameron), raised our concerns as well as the need for reforms. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/07/2014 answer text <p>Promoting and protecting the freedom of religion or belief is a priority for UK foreign policy. We pursue it in our bilateral work and lobbying of other Governments, and through our human rights programme funding. We have also stepped up training in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) on the influence of faith, in many parts of the world, on governments, communities and individuals.</p><p>Our work is based on the full definition of freedom of religion or belief as set out in article 18 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This includes the right to manifest your faith, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, through teaching, practice, worship and observance.</p><p>The FCO Minister responsible for freedom of religion or belief, the Senior Minister of State, my noble Friend the right hon. Baroness Warsi, has convened meetings of international leaders to generate support for practical steps to promote freedom of religion or belief and to fight religious intolerance. At the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict, Baroness Warsi chaired a dialogue between political and faith leaders, and supported a separate non-governmental organization (NGO)-led event, to explore the role faith groups play, and to enlist their support for the objectives of the summit.</p><p>Freedoms of association and peaceful assembly, enshrined in both the Universal Declaration and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, are fundamental for democratic societies, where people must be able to gather (formally or informally), to express themselves, and to have a meaningful say in issues that affect them. This includes working to end religious intolerance and persecution and we strongly condemn any alleged persecution and will continue to uphold the rights of citizens, regardless of faith, ethnicity or belief.</p><p>We only provide aid directly to governments where we are satisfied that they share our commitments to reduce poverty and respect human rights. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/07/2014 answer text <p>The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham is the primary reception hospital for Armed Forces personnel seriously injured on operations. Its state-of-the-art facilities, operating in partnership with the NHS, offer personnel the best possible care. Once sufficiently healed, most then start a rehabilitation programme at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) at Headley Court, which provides acute medical rehabilitation across the spectrum of injury from sports, exercise and accidents to more serious neurological conditions and complex trauma casualties. <br><br>When discharged from the DMRC, further rehabilitation might then be provided at one of 15 Regional Rehabilitation Units. In addition, the Defence Recovery Capability, a Ministry of Defence (MOD) led initiative in partnership with Help for Heroes, The Royal British Legion and other Service charities and agencies, ensures that wounded, injured and sick personnel have access to the key services and resources needed to help them either return to duty or make a smooth transition into an appropriately skilled civilian life.<br><br>While the Chavasse Report is not specifically focused on the medical rehabilitation of injured personnel, the MOD is nonetheless broadly supportive of its recommendations, which make a number of proposals to deliver timely access to quality NHS elective orthopaedic care for both serving and former members of the Armed Forces.<br><br>The Defence Medical Services is committed to working in partnership with NHS England and the Devolved Administrations, and will continue to do so when considering the proposals of the report.</p> answering member constituency Broxtowe answering member printed Anna Soubry question first answered 10/07/2014 13:58:41 answering member 3938 label Biography information for Anna Soubry

My noble Friend, (the rt. hon. Baroness Warsi), the Senior Minister for Faith and Communities, who is also a Minister at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, has made Freedom of Religion or Belief a priority and the government works in multilateral fora to ensure that it is afforded the international legal protection that it deserves. My noble Friend has also convened meetings of international leaders to generate practical steps to promote freedom of religion or belief and to fight religious intolerance within our societies.
