answer text <p>Unconscious bias training courses were removed from the Civil Service cross-Civil Service curriculum in January 2021. The Cabinet Office also took action to remove unconscious bias training from any relevant learning and related materials. The<a href="https://questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-statements/detail/2020-12-15/hcws652" target="_blank"> Written Ministerial Statement</a> on this was communicated to all departments.</p><p>The Civil Service is committed to maintaining a strong focus on diversity and inclusion. A review of existing learning is being conducted to ensure new learning utilises evidence-based interventions. The government expects other parts of the public sector to review their approaches in light of the evidence and developments in the Civil Service.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>Following the <a href="https://questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-statements/detail/2020-12-15/hcws652" target="_blank">Written Statement HCWS652</a>, unconscious bias training was removed from DCMS’s core learning offer from January 2021 and replaced by a new learning module for all staff on ‘Inclusion in the Civil Service’. Unconscious bias training is no longer required to be completed by individuals serving on recruitment panels.</p><p>DCMS Arms-Length Bodies (ALBs) were made aware of this change and the new ‘Inclusion in the Civil Service’ course at a meeting of HR Directors on the 14th of January 2021.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government does not believe that such training achieves its intended aims, and after the announcement in December, the Treasury removed all unconscious bias training and reference to it from our online learning management system. We have also stopped this being mandatory training for new starters.</p> more like this
