We have been clear that building owners are responsible for funding fire safety measures, but councils should contact us if they have any concerns about funding fire safety works. It aims to help landlords to get their tax right from day one, keeping them on track and offering an opportunity to address previous errors. The campaign has been successful at both providing education material to prevent tax loss and enabling landlords to bring their affairs up to date.</p><p>The Let Property Campaign has raised over £115m in additional tax, interest and penalties to December 2016. Of that total, £9.6m represents penalties paid by landlords.</p><p>HMRC plan to continue the Let Property Campaign for the foreseeable future as it continues to help ensure customers understand their obligation and to target those that choose not to meet them.</p><p>HMRC does not hold information in a form that allows them to provide the estimate requested. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/10/2017 answer text <p>Following the Chancellor’s announcement of the Business Rates Relief Schemes at Spring Budget 2017, on 9 March the Department published a Business Rates Information Letter to local authorities. This provided information on each of the three schemes, including draft allocations for the discretionary relief scheme and guidance on the Supporting Small Business Scheme. On 10 March the Department began discussions with a group of local authorities and the main software suppliers to discuss the implementation of the schemes and system requirements.</p><p>The Department has continued to engage local authorities and software suppliers, encouraging authorities to speed up implementation and the technical guidance for the Supporting Small Business Scheme and Pubs Relief Scheme was published on the 20 June. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/09/2017 answer text <p>Where landlords have concerns about funding essential fire safety measures, they should approach us or the regulator, as appropriate, as soon as possible to discuss the position. Where works have been advised by local fire services to be essential to ensure the fire safety of a building, for local authorities we will ensure that current restrictions on the use of financial resources will not prevent them going ahead. The regulator of social housing can consider other options for housing associations. Any support offered would not include general improvements or enhancements to buildings which go beyond this. We will deal with any requests on a case by case basis.</p><p>Following a letter sent on 31 July to all local authority and housing association Chief Executives, my Department has been contacted by 27 local authorities to discuss the position on funding. The regulator of social housing has also written separately to housing associations. No housing associations have contacted the Regulator so far.
