answer text <p>The Prosperity Fund is focused on high impact projects to promote economic<br>development and poverty reduction in the developing world. All Official Development<br>Assistance spend under the cross-government Prosperity Fund (PF) is fully<br>consistent with the International Development Act (including the Gender Equality<br>2014) and OECD DAC criteria. The Fund’s priorities were set out in the UK Aid<br>Strategy (2015) and the Strategic Defence Security Review (SDSR 2015). The Fund<br>also supports the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG<br>8 to “Promote inclusive and sustainable growth, employment and decent work for all”.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Prosperity Fund has been designed in accordance with the OECD DAC guidelines on Overseas Development Assistance and the 2015 UK Aid Strategy with a primary purpose to support economic development and poverty reduction in developing countries. It is expected that a secondary benefit of strengthening economic development in these countries will be increased trade and investment opportunities, including for UK companies. The Prosperity Fund is overseen by a Ministerial Board, with Minister of State Burt representing DFID, which sets strategic priorities. Official Development Assistance (ODA) eligibility and compliance with the International Development Act are central to Prosperity Fund assessment and approvals processes.</p> more like this

Logging operations taking place in the Bialowieza Forest have occurred in the part of the forest located on Polish territory despite an order from the European Court of Justice to halt the practice. answer text <p>The Government's policy paper, ‘Collaboration on Science and Innovation: A Future Partnership Paper’, states that one of the United Kingdom’s core objectives during negotiations is to continue to collaborate with European partners to ensure that the UK remains one of the best places in the world for science and innovation. As part of exit negotiations, the Government will seek agreement with the European Union and Member States how best to continue cooperation in the field of medical research and clinical trials.</p><p> </p><p>UK-based researchers can currently run multi-state clinical trials and this will still be the case whatever system of clinical trial authorisation is put in place after Brexit.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government recognises the valuable contribution migrants make to our society and we welcome those with the skills and expertise to make our country better still. But we must manage the process properly so that our immigration system serves the national interest.</p><p> </p><p>We have been clear that after the UK leaves the EU, free movement will end, but migration between the UK and the EU will continue and we are considering a number of options as to how this might work. We will be setting out initial proposals for our future immigration arrangements later in the year.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Government recognises that it is important that we understand the impacts on the different sectors of the economy and the labour market and want to ensure that decisions on the long-term system are based on evidence. On July 2017, we commissioned the independent Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) to advise on the economic and social impacts of the UK’s exit from the European Union and also on how the UK’s immigration system should be aligned with a modern industrial strategy- and they will be presenting their report in September 2018. The MAC has also issued a public call for evidence- where sectoral bodies including those in the science, academic and research sectors can formally make representations. This is open until 27 October 2017.
