answer text <p>Numbers of units of e-cigarettes, vaping products and tobacco items sold in prisons in England and Wales in each month for the last year are as set out in the attached annex.</p><p>Prisons are rolling out the smoke free policy, subject to a series of assessments which will test the operational stability, readiness and health readiness of the prisons to implement the policy in a safe, decent and secure way. HMPPS’ health partners in England and Wales are fully involved in supporting prisoners with appropriate smoking cessation services in place.</p><p>The open estate across England and Wales has been smoke free indoors since October 2015.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Ownership of Community Rehabilitation Companies (CRCs) transferred to new providers in 2015. Contracts with CRCs require each CRC to ensure that it employs a sufficient level of staff, and that its workforce is competent and adequately trained. We no longer routinely collect and publish CRC workforce numbers.</p><p>We closely monitor and robustly manage providers to make sure they fulfil their contractual commitments to reduce reoffending, protect the public and provide value for money to the taxpayer.</p> more like this

We are currently planning to sign the contract by the end of October 2017. answer text <p>NHS England is responsible for commissioning all healthcare services for prisoners (including drug and alcohol services) in England. Services are commissioned for individual prisons by NHS England’s local commissioners, based on a local health needs assessment which informs the provision required.</p><p> </p><p>In the case of the primary and secondary healthcare commissioned services, there are national specifications to which patient specific services can be added. For those prisons which have predominantly elderly patient cohorts, these additions will ensure that age related conditions are specifically assessed and provided for.</p><p> </p><p>NHS England commissions specific dementia care service, end of life and palliative care provision, supports the prisons’ approach to the local authorities’ assessment and management of social care, and ensures that elderly patients are supported in accessing healthcare services.</p> more like this

We take these issues extremely seriously.</p><p>We have regular, constructive discussions with the Ombudsman and we shall continue to do so.</p><p>We have created a new unit within HM Prison and Probation Service to ensure relevant recommendations from the Ombudsman are being taken forward in a timely manner and to track how they are being implemented by prisons.</p> more like this
