<p>The Department for Education has made no formal assessment of the health and behavioural
effects of the sale of sugar-based drinks in schools.</p><p> </p><p>Widely available
public health evidence is used to underpin statutory school food standards, which
bar the provision of drinks with significant quantities of sugar.</p><p> </p><p>Revised
standards come into force from January 2015 (<a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/school-food"
target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/school-food</a>).</p>
