The recently announced protocol on the appropriate handling of crime in prison is designed to ensure that there is greater consistency in approach across different regions.</p><p> </p><p>It is not possible to identify from centrally held data, the number of prisoners proceeded against since 2010 in respect of a serious crime committed whilst in custody. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/11/2014 answer text <p /> <p>The new package of support announced on 23 October is aimed at keeping disputes away from court, while those who end up in court will be provided with better support. The funding will be used to support a new strategic approach to increasing legal and practical support for litigants in person in the civil and family courts. This will provide direct support in some local courts, and other courts will be able to access national support via email or telephone. The service will begin in selected court centres with the aim of rolling it out across England and Wales.</p><p>This strategy has been developed in partnership with the legal and advice sectors and we are currently working with them on implementation. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/11/2014 answer text <p /> <p>The case management systems for the County Court and Family Court do not record reasons for adjournments/postponements.</p><p> </p><p>Data is not collected centrally by HMCTS showing the reasons for adjournments in every hearing in every court case. Different case management systems are used throughout Crown Courts, Magistrates Courts, Family Courts and County Courts to record different levels of data. The only way to enable the provision of a response to this question would be to manually check each case file from each court.</p><p> </p><p>The interpreting contract has delivered significant improvements since being introduced to tackle the inefficiencies and inconsistencies in the previous system. The provision of all language services is now available 24/7 with interpreters spending more time translating than ever before. We now have a quality service that is robust, sustainable and affordable, and we have spent £27m less in the first two years of the contract. This followed the Justice Secretary’s announcement on 19 December 2013 that Serco had agreed to repay £70.5m owed on the company’s electronic monitoring and prisoner escort contracts.</p><p> </p><p>The sums in question also included provision for the direct costs to Government arising from these matters.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Both companies have repaid all money requested in accordance with the settlement agreements.</p><p> </p><p>We are not aware of any outstanding debts owed to this Department by the companies.
