HEE is responsible for ensuring a secure workforce supply for the future balancing need against demand, taking into account factors such as the age profile of the existing workforce, the impact of technology, and new drugs.</p><p> </p><p>The attached table sets out the number of training places for General Practice that were commissioned and filled for each of the last five years on a regional basis.</p><p> </p><p>It should be noted that the figure for 2014 represents figures for the year to date. The cost of this inquiry was £710,000, which includes the cost of the staff on the inquiry amounting to £639,000 and direct costs of £71,000 (including survey costs).</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) did not collect specific information on the resources used in considering mergers involving NHS Foundation Trusts.
