answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/10/2014 answer text <p>The Commission has not yet had discussions with Liberty on its recommendation that electors in Great Britain should be required in future to present an acceptable form of photographic identification (ID) prior to being issued with a ballot paper at polling stations, as has been the requirement in Northern Ireland since 2003. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/10/2014 answer text <p>The Commission informs me that the general duty on Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to take all necessary steps to maintain the electoral register, including making house-to-house enquiries, was introduced in 2006. Specific provisions requiring EROs to follow up any non-responses to household enquiry forms and invitations to register with personal visits came into effect at the beginning of the transition to Individual Electoral Registration, which commenced on 10 June 2014 in England and Wales and from 19 September 2014 in Scotland.</p><p> </p><p>EROs are now in the process of carrying out personal canvassing to follow up non-responses to household enquiry forms and invitations to register. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/10/2014 answer text <p>HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) announced on 16 October 2014 the closure of 14 of its smaller offices across the UK which do not fit the medium to long term plans of any line of business currently operating from them. This included one office in North Wales, Government Buildings, Colwyn Bay and followed consultation with staff, departmental trade unions and elected representatives.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Following the decision, 38 people in Colwyn Bay have been given priority status for vacancies at their grade both within HMRC and in other government departments.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>HMRC has not invited staff in Colwyn Bay office to consider voluntary redundancy at this stage.
