answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/07/2019 answer text <table><tbody><tr><td><p>Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (HASAWA), all employers must provide (so far as is reasonably practicable) a safe place of work and safe systems of work. This includes HM Prison and Probation Service for public sector prisons, and G4S/Sodexo/Serco for privately managed prisons.HM Prison and Probation Service offers and provides Hepatitis B vaccinations, followed by all required vaccination courses and/or blood tests, to ensure staff are protected at work. These are administered by our Occupational Health supplier, Optima Health, for Prison Officers, First Aid Officers and Operational Support grade staff across public sector prisons in England and Wales. The majority of public sector prisons have received Hepatitis B immunisation clinics in 2019. The remaining establishments will receive their clinics in the next few months. Human resources arrangements in privately managed prisons, including offering and providing Hepatitis B vaccinations, are the responsibility of providers. There is no preventative vaccine to protect against Hepatitis C. Therefore, post exposure management such as immediate first aid followed by appropriate risk assessment, is essential. Staff in public sector prisons receive education and training on safe systems of work, universal precautions, hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment in relation to dealing with body fluids at work. Risks to staff are assessed and suitable controls implemented accordingly. The efficacy of those controls is monitored at local and national level via a variety of processes including joint audit work with prison unions. HM Prison &amp; Probation Service’s (HMPPS) leadership team is kept regularly informed of trends in injuries and ill health and of the status of occupational risks its staff is facing and is thereby in a position to respond accordingly.</p><p> </p><p>HMPPS recognises that the physical, emotional and social wellbeing of employees is paramount. All HMPPS staff have access to an occupational health service and employee assistance programme. This includes 24 hour, 365 days a year access to signposting and counselling; trauma support services; a wide ranging health promotion website and personal wellbeing zone.</p><p> </p><p>It is a priority to ensure that prisons are places of safety and reform and the government has invested an additional £70 million investment in safety, security and decency. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/06/2019 answer text <p>As in preparation for 29 March and 12 April, our contingency plans for 31 October will cover the National Health Service, social care and the independent sector and covers all medicines, medical devices and clinical consumables, supplies for clinical trials, vaccines and countermeasures, and organs and tissues for transplants.</p><p>The Department has continued to work closely with the devolved administrations, industry trade bodies and suppliers, the NHS and other key stakeholders. Prior to 29 March, the Department analysed the supply chains of 12,300 medicines, close to half a million product lines of medical devices and clinical consumables, vaccines used in national and local programmes, and essential non-clinical goods on which the health and care system relies. These analyses and assessments have been updated where necessary and will continue to be refined while a ‘no deal’ European Union exit remains a possibility. This work has informed our plans.</p><p>We are asking suppliers to analyse their supply chains and to make alternative plans if they anticipate disruption, including rerouting to alternative ports or using airfreight where necessary. Our contingency measures aim to support industry-led measures and, where required, act as a ‘last resort’ to be used only when a supplier’s alternative arrangements encounter difficulties, to ensure uninterrupted supply.</p><p>While we never give guarantees, we are confident that, if everyone – including suppliers, freight companies, international partners and the health and care system – does what they need to do, the supply of medicines and medical products should be uninterrupted in the event of a ‘no deal’ EU exit.</p> answering member constituency Wimbledon answering member printed Stephen Hammond question first answered 27/06/2019 15:10:41 answering member 1585 label Biography information for Stephen Hammond

The contract for phase 1 of this work, which ended on 31 May 2019, cost £400,000.</p><p>The new Procurement Target Operating Model will consider the processes, data, and skills and capabilities to deliver a more efficient procurement service. The remit of the Procurement Target Operating Model programme does not cover clinical products and therefore were not considered as part of this review. NHS Improvement has collaborated with National Health Service providers’ chief executives, finance and procurement leads to develop the NHS’s procurement target operating model. Members of the Healthcare Supply Association have also been engaged with as part of the target operating model’s development.</p><p>Clinical products, including continence products, which are procured by the NHS are the remit of Supply Chain Coordination Limited who work with NHS providers’ procurement teams across England.
