For individuals, a typical basic rate taxpayer will pay £1,005 less income tax in 2017-18 than in 2010-11, and 1.3 million individuals will be taken out of income tax altogether by 2017-18 (compared to 2015-16), as a result of the Government’s action to increase the personal allowance to £11,500 in April 2017.</p><p> </p><p>The pay for an individual public sector worker is affected by several factors including progression pay, allowances and the one per cent pay policy.
