answer text <p>The Education Funding Agency was created on 1 April 2012. Since then, it has issued four directions to admit to academies. The average time taken to issue these directions was 78 working days. The shortest time was 42 and the longest 142 working days.</p><p>In each case, the EFA encourages academies and local authorities to resolve the matter locally without the need for a formal direction and in most cases this happens. Where a local resolution is not reached, the EFA gathers evidence from the complainant and the academy before issuing its decision.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Academy sponsors who receive the Sponsor Capacity Fund are required to sign a Grant Funding Agreement, agreeing to adhere to the terms and conditions of grant. They are required to submit an Annual Certification of Expenditure, signed by their auditors, and a final report detailing what has been achieved through use of the grant<strong>.</strong></p><p>If they fail to comply with any of the conditions of grant, or are deemed to be in breach of it, they are required to return the grant to the Department.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Department for Education received the ‘Trojan Horse' letter in December 2013. The Secretary of State has asked the Permanent Secretary to investigate how the Department dealt with warnings both since the formation of this Government in 2010 and before.</p><p> </p><p>Since receiving a copy of the Trojan Horse letter, the Department has been working closely with agencies such as Birmingham City Council, the police and Ofsted. Friend, the Secretary of State for Education, established a dedicated Due Diligence and Counter Extremism Division within the Department for Education in October 2010 in order to tackle the threat of extremism in schools. The Government's revised <em>Prevent</em> strategy, published in June 2011, set out a general assessment of the threat.
