answer text <p>The Government remains open to considering well-developed proposals for harnessing the tidal range energy in the bays and estuaries around our coastlines, including barrage schemes and other alternatives. Any such proposal would need to demonstrate strong evidence of value for money in the context of other renewable technologies, as well as details of its associated energy system benefits and environmental impact mitigation strategies before the Government could take a view on its potential or on the funding models appropriate for exploration.</p> more like this

answer text <p>UK contribution to the project to date has been from multiple sources and amounted to £9.5m.</p><p> </p><p>The Government committed to leasing accommodation for the UPC in London which is currently being utilised by the IPO and other tenants. We have invoked the break clause set out in the lease. We estimate future IPO costs of approximately £420,000 in net rent, plus costs to return the accommodation to its original state.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Since 2014, the Department for Transport has paid around £43m of Bus Service Operators Grant (BSOG) per year directly to local authorities. This element of BSOG relates to services which local authorities procure directly because they would not otherwise be commercially viable.</p><p> </p><p>Between April 2014 and March 2018, this funding was ring-fenced so that authorities must spend it on bus services.</p><p> </p><p>The Department will set out its plans for this year’s funding alongside issuing the grant to local authorities.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Department publishes statistics showing the number and rate of qualified teachers who enter service and the number and rate of qualified teachers leaving service.</p><p>The latest available statistics, for 2011 to 2014, are in Table C1b of the additional tables in the statistical first release ‘School Workforce in England, November 2014’, which was published in July 2015 and has been attached to this answer.</p><p>The statistics show that the qualified teacher entry rate has been higher than the qualified teacher leavers rate throughout 2011 to 2014. For example, the latest data shows that between November 2013 and November 2014, 44,900 full-time equivalent qualified teachers entered service in state-funded schools; this represents an entry rate of 10.3%. Over the same period, 42,050 full-time equivalent qualified teachers left service from state-funded schools; this represents a leavers rate of 9.7%</p><p>It is the responsibility of individual head teachers to decide how best to deploy their staff to meet the needs of their pupils.</p>
