answer text
Every school or college with confirmed RAAC has been assigned dedicated support from caseworkers and project delivery teams are also on hand to support with implementing mitigation plans.

Every case is unique and the impact on schools and colleges can be varied. The department will work with schools and colleges to put in place a bespoke plan based on their circumstances. In some cases, there is no impact on teaching space or it is limited to small areas. For others, mitigation plans can include using other spaces on the school site or locally until building works are carried out or temporary buildings are installed.

Alongside Ofqual, the department has also asked awarding organisations to be as flexible as possible within the confines of their processes and regulations, for example by agreeing longer extensions to coursework and non-exam assessment deadlines so that affected schools and colleges have as much time as possible to complete this important part of students' learning and qualifications. In the case of vocational and technical qualifications, it may be considering if students can take the assessment in a future assessment opportunity.

Furthermore, students taking GCSE exams in 2024 will be provided with enhanced formulae and equation sheets so they will not need to memorise the usual formulae and equations for GCSE mathematics, physics and combined science, as they would in a normal year.

answer text We are investing £1.3bn to reform and modernise the prison estate to make it more efficient, safer and focused on supporting prisoner rehabilitation. We will build new prisons and close prisons that are in poor condition and those which do not have a long-term future in the estate. We will apply for planning permission to redevelop the site of HMP & YOI Glen Parva. If we successfully achieve planning permission at the site, HMP & YOI Glen Parva would close and be replaced by a new, fit for purpose, facility. more like this

answer text
Many interns are already entitled to the National Minimum Wage. The term “intern” is not defined in any legislation: entitlement to the minimum wage depends on whether or not an individual is a worker for minimum wage purposes.

The National Minimum Wage applies to all workers unless a specific exemption applies. If an intern is a worker they will be entitled to the minimum wage. An applicable exemption would be students in further or higher education performing work-experience for a period not exceeding 12 months which is part of their studies. It can be legitimate for employers to offer unpaid or ‘expenses-only’ opportunities in some circumstances – in particular where the individual is acting as a volunteer.

Given this dependency on employment status, it is vital that employers and workers understand how this is determined. This is why last month, the Business Secretary announced a review of employment status, looking at how the system could be clarified, providing transparency for both individuals and employers. This is an internal review and findings will be presented to ministers early next year.

There are currently no plans to specifically consider individuals covered by the Ministerial and Other Salaries Act 1975.
