answer text <p>We believe that meaningful political dialogue, taken forward by Hong Kong under its high degree of autonomy, is the best way to resolve the current impasse. It is important that the basic freedoms enshrined in the Sino-British Joint Declaration are maintained.</p><p>The Sino-British Joint Declaration is a legally binding treaty, registered with the UN, that remains in force. The UK, as a co-signatory, has an obligation to monitor its implementation closely, and we are committed to doing so.</p><p>The Prime Minister discussed developments in Hong Kong with other leaders at the recent G7 Summit. In his discussion with Chinese State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on 31 July, the Foreign Secretary raised Hong Kong, including the importance of upholding the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ framework, which is set out in the Joint Declaration.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The UK fully respects the territorial integrity of Indonesia, including Papua. Within this framework we support the efforts of the authorities and civil society to address the needs and aspirations of the Papuan people.</p><p>In August 2019, I attended the Pacific Island Forum in the UK’s capacity as Dialogue Partner (an observer). The UK notes the communique issued at the Pacific Island Forum but we have no plans to respond to it. We regard Papua and West Papua provinces as being part of Indonesia and consider dialogue on territorial issues in Indonesia to be a matter for the Indonesian people.</p><p>UK Officials at the Embassy in Jakarta, including the Ambassador, visit Papua regularly. Our Officials also press the Indonesian authorities to address legitimate human rights concerns. This includes upholding the right of all citizens to peacefully protest, and ensuring the sustainable and equitable development of the province through political dialogue.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government published, on 18 December 2018, a call for evidence to form the basis for a technical review of Approved Document B (Fire Safety). Paragraphs 35 and 36 address means of escape for disabled people and paragraphs 38 to 41 address the issue of smoke and toxicity.</p><p>The call for evidence closed on 15 March 2019. The Department is in the process of reviewing the evidence provided. My Department is also committed to reviewing Approved Document M (Access to and use of buildings) and a key objective is to ensure that these two projects deliver consistent and co-ordinated advice on this important matter.</p> more like this

answer text <p>HM Inspectorate of Prisons’ recent report on HMP/YOI Eastwood Park was published on 28 August 2019. We take all recommendations made by the Chief Inspector seriously and the prison is taking action to address the Chief Inspector’s findings.</p><p>A detailed action plan has been produced to address all the recommendations in the report. The action plan has been published on the prison finder website at: <a href="https://www.justice.gov.uk/contacts/prison-finder/eastwood-park" target="_blank">https://www.justice.gov.uk/contacts/prison-finder/eastwood-park</a></p><p> </p><p>The regime at HMP/YOI Eastwood Park is structured so that prisoners who are engaging with the prison regime are ‘out of cell’ for 9.5 hours a day Monday to Friday and 7.75 hours at weekends. Prisoners located on an enhanced wing have access to the prison grounds for 12.45 hours during the week and 11.75 hours during the weekend.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The UK welcomes the Constitutional Declaration agreed by the Transitional Military Council and the Forces of Freedom and Change in Sudan, which sets out the plan for transition to civilian-led government. We congratulate Dr. Abdalla Hamdok on his appointment as Prime Minister of Sudan and commend his commitment to freedom, peace and justice. The UK also commends the role of the African Union and Ethiopia in their efforts to support the mediation that has helped to deliver this agreement. answer text <p>There are no grants available specifically for the replacement of trees removed due to disease or decay, but there are opportunities for funding or new planting in and around our towns and cities under the recently launched £10 million Urban Tree Challenge Fund. answer text <p>The former Chancellor of the Exchequer (Philip Hammond), my right hon. Friend, the Member for Runnymede and Weybridge, announced in his Spring Statement on 13 March 2019 that the Department for Education will lead a scheme to provide access to free sanitary products in all secondary schools and colleges across England. On 16 April 2019, the former Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Children and Families (Nadhim Zahawi). my hon. Friend, the Member for Stratford-upon-Avon, announced that funding would be extended to cover need in primary schools and that national roll-out would take place in early 2020.</p><p>The invitation to tender for the period products scheme closed on 15 July 2019. The department is also working with stakeholders to develop guidance that will support institutions in embedding this scheme.</p> more like this
