The UK is deeply concerned by the prevalence of sexual violence in South Sudan. We
have allocated three million pounds to prevent and respond to gender-based violence.
Additionally, the UK’s contribution to humanitarian programmes helps to support survivors
of sexual violence and make refugee camps safer for women and girls. We continue to
press the Government of South Sudan (GoSS) to implement its commitment to end sexual
violence, as set out in the joint communiqué between the GoSS and the United Nations
of October 2014.
