<p>The Government has already fully implemented EU Directive 2014/45. This Directive
enables Member States to exempt vehicles manufactured or registered for the first
time at least 30 years ago from periodic roadworthiness testing. The Government’s
consultation response, published in September 2017, set out the decision to exempt
most vehicles over 40 years old from testing, except for those which have been substantially
changed. The Government has no plans to revisit this 40 year threshold.</p><p> </p>
