Cross-government governance arrangements are coordinating efforts across Whitehall. The Prime Minister established and chairs a Cabinet Committee on European Union Exit and Trade to oversee the UK’s exit at Cabinet level. The Committee meets regularly. Since the triggering of Article 50, two new subcommittees, chaired by the Prime Minister, have been established. One will oversee the negotiations on the UK’s withdrawal from and new relationship with the EU, and the second will focus on issues relating to the UK’s future trading arrangements with non-European countries. At official level, the cross-government EU Exit Analysis Board provides oversight and direction to analytical work related to EU exit, including sectoral and regional analysis, being undertaken across Whitehall. The advice accurately reflects the terms of the Education Act 1996.</p><p> </p><p>The ‘Charging for School Activities’ advice states schools can ask for voluntary contributions for the benefit of the school or any school activities. This year, it is the largest ever on record, totalling over £40 billion.</p><p> </p><p>We recognise that schools, as with other public services, are facing broader cost pressures. We have published Workforce Planning Guidance to support schools to plan over the longer term, as part of regular school improvement, curriculum and financial planning. This is to help ensure that schools are always investing in the right mix of staff, and in high quality professional development, to deliver excellent pupil outcomes. Stem cell transplants for sickle cell disease in adults are not routinely commissioned by NHS England. Whilst stem cell transplants can be effective for some carefully selected patients, stem cell transplantation can also lead to a number of complications, some of which can be severe and life threatening.</p><p> </p><p>NHS England commissioning policy for stem cell transplants is kept under review in the light of the latest clinical evidence. The National Institute for Health Research is currently inviting research proposals for a multicentre randomised control trial to address the clinical and cost effectiveness of stem cell transplantation in adults with severe sickle cell disease.
