answer text <p>In 2014 the government changed the law to enable cases of theft from a shop of goods with a value of £200 or less to be dealt with as summary-only offences. This enables certain cases of shop theft to be dealt with as swiftly and efficiently as possible, enabling the police to prosecute uncontested cases in the future.</p><p>This change has no bearing on the ability of the Crown Prosecution Service to prosecute a person for theft from a shop, or on the courts’ powers to punish offenders</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Ministry of Justice has published information on out of court disposals including Penalty Notices for Disorder (PND) and cautions by offence up to December 2018. Put ‘Outcomes’ in the ‘Filters’ field and filter by ‘DA12 Theft (retail under £100)’. The total number of PNDs issued for Theft (retail under £100) will then be displayed in row 21.</p><p> </p><p>In the Cautions pivot, filter by ‘Offence’ to include only ’46 Theft from Shops’. The total number of cautions issued for these offences in each year will then be displayed in row 21.</p><p>Separately, the Home Office has published information on outcomes for police recorded crimes, including community resolutions. These are counted on a ‘per offence’ basis (rather than per defendant as the case with the MoJ data on cautions and PNDs above). The Government supports the industry’s approach to this issue, including the UK Aviation Industry Code of Practice on Disruptive Passengers, and initiatives such as the ‘One Too Many’ awareness campaign and the introduction of tamper-proof bags for duty free alcohol sales. answer text <p>We remain deeply concerned about the human rights situation in Gaza and support the Palestinian Authority returning to administer Gaza. Egypt has a right to secure borders, and we continue urging Egypt to show maximum flexibility in opening the Rafah crossing. Officials from our Embassy in Cairo raised the Rafah crossing with the Egyptian authorities on 19 December 2019, highlighting the need to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Ministers and officials regularly raise the situation in Gaza with the Egyptian Government both in London and in Cairo, and will continue to do so.</p> more like this
